For better and worse, this is Portland -- at least the northern part of its downtown. Great for a visit on a sunny day, fun for food / drink / partying in the evening (at least in the safe-feeling areas), probably a bit gloomy on...More

Then this is your spot. Portland is a lovely place, but the blight of the homeless problem that is everywhere is much worse in the Pearl District. Here you've been transported by to New York in the 1970s. Filth, decrepit buildings, half naked homeless drug...More

There are lots of art galleries and fun restaurants. There are also lots of homeless. We had to go around many encampments. They camp on the sidewalks. We didn't want to walk thru their home. I did not feel unsafe though.

So many things to see and do, great food, plenty of shopping, take some comfortable shoes with you and walk around.

The Pearl district in Portland is a nice place to visit. We enjoyed looking at all the upscale shops and all the people. I was amazed at the number of restaurants that looked very special. Wish we had time to sample them all!

There are numerous options in the Pearl district. You can find great food, drinks, shopping and architecture here. The cafes and restaurants are great. You don’t want to miss it if you visit Portland.

Walked up to the Pearl District for their Arts and Crafts Festival which had lots of local artisans, several food trucks and some live music. Interesting area (of course what part of Portland isn't interesting?!)

Don't miss the cute shops, Powell's bookstore, restaurants and breweries in the Pearl District. We had fun exploring and sampling along the way.

We never go to Portland without a trip to Powell's in the Pearl, and from there we generally explore the charming shops. Generally pick up something at Sur la Table, coffee/snack at the Pearl Bakery (yum!), etc.

There are so many cool neighborhoods on the other side of the river. Almost too many to mention. A couple of places stand out, Por que no, and the Waffle Window.

Seriously, all of them! I know that doesn’t help much. You won’t get lost, people are very helpful and friendly. If I had to be specific I would say from 12th down to 6th Ave. Keep on exploring and cross Burnside and head... More
