We visited the place from the Jordan side. We stopped at a parking spot and then taken to the actual site by shuttle bus. A guide was with us to explain. Once at the river there was a guard but he was of no bother...More

Refused to entry due to the fee! I'm not religious but is unacceptable to pay a fee to access the place where the son of god showed how to be humble and came down asking a human to baptise him!

I'm personally not religious, but this place was amazing. We were here on Israel side, so we've noticed couple of border guards from both sides (Israel and Jordan), but they were super friendly and even let me take pictures of them. Then you can actually...More

We weren’t told about this site but tried exploring, you need to stop at parking spot and take a shuttle tour(mandatory) we enjoyed a lot as there were 6 of us and it took us almost 2 hours but was worth it and we left...More

Worst guide and tour in years. Guide completely uninterested and uninformative. Rude salesperson at ticket entry. Even though you can enter the site, the guide somehow skipped it. Taking something that can be beautiful and completely ruining it... Such a shame.

Very solemn place. Kept in an original state as possible, whereas the facilities across the River Jordan on the West Bank are very modern. It was a very long walk in the middle of Summer, and the organisers need to offer some basic transportation to...More

This site costs about 12 Jordanian diners per person. Kids are free. Wear comfortable shoes and bring bottled water. There is a nice gift shop onsite. You can purchase a white robe for baptism at this shop. Tour guides were awesome, knowledgeable and attentive.

It was quite an experience visiting the actual site where Jesus Christ was Baptized. The good thing is that the whole area has been declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO and that way they are able to preserve it for current and future generations. Its...More

Bethany is an UNESCO World Heritage site believed to be the location where Jesus of Nazareth was baptized by John the Baptist. Excavations at Bethany Beyond the Jordan began in 1996, as this area had been a minefield on the front line between Jordan and...More

The actual site of Jesus’ baptism is roped off—it’s a pretty dried up tributary of the river Jordan. Many people get baptized in the Jordan River, from both the Israel and Jordan sides. But the site of Jesus’ baptism is in... More

We found Jordan very safe. We did have a driver with us for our whole stay, so that made a difference. I’m not sure about the whole “crossing from Israel” thing, as we didn’t go to Israel, but I do know they have some... More
