This has become a busy thoroughfare from Sonoma to Santa Rosa, so be careful, especially if you are stopping at one of the many wineries along the way. I prefer the Dry Creek Valley or along the Russian River Valley since it is more compact...More

You cannot believe how may acres of vineyards there are in Sonoma. You must drive the 12 slowly and just take in the views. You do not need to drink any wine to become intoxicated with the countryside.

Take the road less travelled! Find alternate routes to the little towns and enjoy the views! Plus, you'll get a chance to sample and some small wineries not owned by Gallo!

From Fairfield, when one wants to get to Sonoma "quickly", Highway 12 looks like the way to go. We went on a Friday (5/3), and going West was not that bad at 10 am. It was a beautiful day, and we could see many vineyards,...More
