Never seen a place like Semuc champey. They first take you up a very scenic climb up the hill to a platform where you get a great birds eye view of all the pools. Never had a better set of pictures before. you than hike...More

One of the most beautiful place we ever been! This is the reason we reached Lanquin after hours on white streets and it worth it. Don't miss the Mirador hike (about an hour) and then dive in one of the crystal clear pozas to cool...More

Enough is said on what is Semuc Champey, natural park with river canyon and pools created by sedimentation of calcite from water. Pools are really nice, water is comfortable to dip in, there is an amazing view top for which takes about half an hour...More

We drove our own rental 4WD here - it was a long way, especially the last 10 km of very rough one-lane road. However it was well worth the trip. The hike to the mirador isn't easy in this heat and humidity, and on the...More

The hike to the viewing platform is about 30 minutes. I had to rest along the way. Totally worth the hike up.

We did it in Apr & there were several days of rain during our time in Guatemala. The day before our trip to Semuc, the heavens opened in Lanquin & we thought the pools would be brown, even if we even could get to them. No... More

I’m trying to decide what to do with my last 3 days in Guatemala. I’ve been studying Spanish at a language school in Antigua and I want to take a trip my last few days. I’m trying to decide between going to Xela, Rio Dulce, or Semuc Champey. I would like to leave Saturday morning (the 29th of June) and spend the night in Guatemala City on Monday (the 1st of July), my flight is the 2nd in the afternoon, so I need to spend the night in the city. In Xela, I’m really interested in visiting Fuentes Georgina. I think it could be relaxing after studying for so long. I would think Semuc Champey could be elaxing while also exciting. I’m just worried about the weather. It hasn’t been raining much in Antigua, so it makes me feel like it will be okay. In regards to Rio Dulce, I think the nature looks gorgeous. Can someone point me in the right direction? I can’t make up my mind
