It’s obviously beautiful and lush. Don’t plan on getting a workout on this hike. I think it’s 3/4 of a mile of sight seeing.

Learning that this lush area, that gets over an 1" of rain a day and shares its mountain space with an area that gets less than 13" in a year was enough to make us want to visit. It is only a short little stroll,...More

Iao Valley is astonishingly on the opposite side of what looks like a dry mountain, yet because of the trade winds getting caught by the West Maui mountains, it’s actually one of the wettest places on earth. The valley is full of amazing scenery. Definitely...More

Beautiful valley with limited trails, somewhat difficult to get a parking spot, but keep driving around until someone pulls out.

This is a great place to take the family IF...everyone enjoys a simple hike on lush forest next to a creek. The Iao Needle is a quick photo spot, then down to the trail along the creek. great times.

Be sure and visit this gorgeous area. It is a wonderful place to explore and very representative of Maui spirit. After you leave, check out the free botanical garden just down the road.

I am sure there are tours from the cruise ship to Iao. If not then you would need to either rent a car or take a taxi. Not aware of any public transport bus that goes into Iao Valley.
