Probably not going to have to worry about ever getting sand between your toes. I didn't go down to the bay itself but took it in via the overlook which made a very good picture. Appeared to have quite a bit of lava and deep...More

This is a terrific snorkeling spot and it’s always calm. It’s surrounded by land on three sides and facing Molokai, so no swells can get in. There are lots of expensive tours here, but you can go for free. The shore itself is very rocky,...More

The walk through the trees from the road to the bay is one of my favorite short walks in the whole world. Along with the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah and Melbourne’s Botanical Gardens. It’s that good!

A year can make a big difference! We were here the last two weeks of September, 2019, the weather was perfect, the bay was FLAT Calm! We got to see the fish and turtles again and again! Many tour boats came in around 9:00am, best...More

This place is an absolute must if you are on Maui. We found it by accident when we were driving around and we were absolutely blown away by the place. The fish were at our feet before we even dived into the water. Parking is...More

If you are willing and able to swim out about 100 yards to the right side (facing out to the water) you will be able to see a lot of fish and turtles. Snorkel around the colorful coral. Get there before 9am if you can...More

This is absolutely the best place to snorkel. It is difficult to get in. Just follow the path the the beach. At the end there are several large smooth flat rocks. Just slide down to the end in the water then you can swim off...More

This is an outstanding place to visit with a beautiful walk though a forest and then a visually stunning bay. The water is shallow and just perfect for snorkeling with lots of fish to see. The parking can be a challenge as it is just...More

Everything about this stop was great. You hike through a jungle to get to the bay, and that hike was awesome in itself. Once you get there, the "beach" is all rocks, so be careful walking. Plenty of fish and turtles. Go at your own...More

Definitely recommend this bay for snorkeling. Parking is a little difficult, I would get there early to get a spot. It is a short walk on a jungly trail to the beach. The beach is rocky, so I wouldn’t go there as a place to...More

It's also about the timing of recent rains. Recent rains = river mud killing the visibility.

We saw turtles at Honolua - none at Molokini. The water will depend on when you go - sometimes it is rougher due to weather etc. there fish at both places, but more variety at Molokini.
