If you are in the area this is a must. The site is a well preserved example of the Mayan culture. You can pay the basic fee or pay extra for a guide. There are also other costs for the museum etc. We opted for...More

Among ancient Mesoamerican cities you might want to visit, it's not as grandiose as Teotihuacan and the pyramids do not tower like in Tikal (they are quite modest,...More

This is a must when visiting Central America, it is full of the ancient history of the area. I've been there so many times I've lost count but I never get tired of it. The whole place takes about 2 to 3 hours to walk...More

Copan Ruinas is well kept and has a lot to see. It might take a few hours to see everything but it is well worth it. Especially once you start climbing the ruins, it has some great views.

Don’t miss this site! It’s very well preserved, and it’s worth a visit. The road from Antigua in Guatemala up to Copán is a good one, anyhow try to drive during daylight. We arrived in the early afternoon on a Tuesday and we were alone....More

The Ruins of Copan are a must-see while in Honduras. I visited for a few hours in the morning, and marveled at not only the ancient structures, altars, stelae, and other archaeological features, but the surrounding park and its macaws. The tunnels are also nice,...More

If you want to avoid the crowds, go right when it opens which is around 8am. Our group basically had the place to ourselves! I would recommend hiring a local guide as well so you actually can learn about all the sites here. Beautiful wild...More

I would recommend using a guide to view the ruins. The guide explained a lot more than we would have been able to glean just from the ruins and signage. Macaws are everywhere! Stay at the Clarion Hotel and visit Macaw Mountain while you are...More

We were in a group. The entrance was included. As far as I remember there were 2 prices. One for local residents one for foreigners. I believe it was like 12 or 15 $

I visited the site on a Wednesday so I cannot be certain about Mondays. However, the guide book for the area states that Copan Ruinas is open daily between 8am and 4pm. I hope this helps.
