I visited in the afternoon and came back at dusk to take pictures of the illuminated fountains. By day, this is a very impressive monument to the immense effort and sacrifice of the American nation in World War II. At either end are markers and...More

This is an incredibly moving monument. It just gives you good bumps, when you realize how many Americans died to preserve our freedom.

It was hot in summer and it's good to be near some fountains. It's bigger than the Korean war memorial, it's a place close-by the Washington memorial (which was close when I was there in July), you can take a good picture in this place

The "Washington DC National Mall, Monuments and Memorials Walking Guide (Washington DC City Walking Guide Series) Kindle Edition" is a decent download for just $3.99. You may want to give it a try.
