From our resort just outside of Cancun the drive to Ek Balam was a good two hours, even taking the toll road as a shortcut. Not too much to see as you’re driving through the jungle and everything is flat. Ek Balam itself is outstanding,...More

Ek Balam isn't one of the more notable ruins when you visit Cancun or Mexico. You hear about the others and they have tours that pick you up and take you to the ruin with pre-planned visits to other popular locales. I've done all those...More

Ek Balam was on our list after our last trip to Cancun. It was a long day to/from (drove quite a distance to a cenote as well), but well worth the trip!

We had a nice view when we climbed the temple but found the entrance to be rather pricy (413 pesos per person) for the site. The cenote (150 pesos pp) nearby was nice and not too crowded (in september)

The moment I walked through the archway , I was totally awed. The size of the palace was amazing. It is something I would not have missed experiencing.

At first I was planning to buy a combined tour to Ek Balam from Merida, like I did for Chichen Itza and Uxmal. However, there were no such group tours, so I went on my own by public bus to Valladolid and by collectivos from...More

A Well-Preserved Site of Mayan Culture - Ekʼ Balam is a Yucatec-Maya archaeological site in Yucatán, Mexico. I had such a pleasure touring this incredible. It's not crowded. I would definitely return.

No. Please don't carry your infant in a carrier to the top of the pyramid. It's quite steep and requires a bit of balance (especially coming down) so will be dangerous.

Yes. Through the resort you are staying at. Book a tour with a guide as they will explain all of the history.
