- Wanderer38N90WSaint Louis, Missouri104 contributionsRiver CruiseDid a group river cruise in the evening. Got a great view and wonderful photo opportunities during trip. Lots of notable buildings along the river. We were fortunate to see the Eiffle Tower 'sporkle' while on the cruise. A definite highlight of the trip.Visited March 2023Written 26 March 2023
- EyekaytooLeverkusen, Germany3,047 contributionsYou can't miss it - and there's always something to watch on the river.I have been coming to Paris off and on for a long while now, most notably since I lived in the Vallee de Chevreuse back in the 90's. My most recent visit was mid week just after Easter. We walked along the banks from the Notre Dame cathedral, over the Pont des Arts bridge up over to La Louvre and then, later that day close by the Eiffel Tower. It was quite busy, with many tourist pleasure cruises, working barges and quite a few boats moored to the bank to provide building materials for the construction work going on. On the banks of the river you have the inevitable joggers, cyclists, fitness freaks, little old ladies walking their tiny dogs and hordes of tourists pouring over their maps. I particularly like the view over to the Square de Vert Galant on the Ile de la Cite - the oldest part of Paris. At that point there seemed to be one sole, weeping willow gracefully guarding the small, triangular park pointing downstream located at the western tip of the Ile de la Cité. Lovely. And all for free!!Visited April 2023Written 15 April 2023
- Mary MFall River, Canada27 contributionsWonderful view of Paris but be careful who you buy your tickets from!We loved the view of Paris from the Seine. The only recommendation I can make is to be careful who your underlying provider is. We used “Get Your Guide”, who we have used before with no problem. But their underlying service provider was a company called “Qualicum”. We found ourselves at the boat dock (along with a couple of young ladies with the same tickets) with no scannable bar code for our cruise. If it wasn’t my for the determined efforts of one of the staff at the gate, we would not have been able to board. She called them for us and received the proper code (which should have been emailed to us by Qualicum). Also note that we had communicated with Get Your Guide prior to arrival and they tried to help but could not reach Qualicum by phone.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 April 2023
- Jane LOttawa, Canada33 contributionsEvening strollWe are seniors and can only sightsee about 6 hours. So one of our days in Paris, we slept in, and did things around our rental apt till 3:30 pm. Then we took the subway to the Latin Quarter, walked around, walked to Ile de la Cite, le Marais, dinner, then walked along the Seine both sides, over some bridges as the sun went down. I wanted to see the Eiffel tower lit up. So nice in the evening, fewer families, more young people, no wind that day. Just a more mellow time, and it was Sunday of a holiday weekend (May 1). Got the best night photos!Visited April 2023Written 2 May 2023
- Angelo ZEvant, Texas300 contributionsDinner on the SeineWe not only walked along the Seine but took an evening dinner cruise. The dinner cruise that allowed us to see the Eiffel Tower at night was magical. Dinner was good, service was great and there was music provided by violin and piano .Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 May 2023
- Zfy EdSingapore, Singapore8,646 contributionsLovely view and got so much interesting things to see!The Seine River cuts through the "heart" of Paris, it is the epicenter of the vibrant city. Visitors to Paris will surely not miss this! The gentle waterway is an integral part of the city and its fascinating history. Lined up with many traditional booksellers and bordered by the beautiful boulevards, historic cafés, shops, open air markets and the charming neighbourhoods, the river is one of the most popular attractions in its own right. Visitors can walk leisurely along the banks of the Seine or take a cruise tour down its waters to get acquainted with the city of light. You will come across many beautiful and historic bridges, along with the iconic French buildings and monuments that include the Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower and the Cathedral of Notre Dame. The scenery is awesome and wonderful!Visited June 2023Written 10 July 2023
- CAROLYN HOrlando, Florida26 contributionsNice Contained RiverMy hubby and I walked down the side of the Seine River from the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre Museum. It is like a big canal because it is contained within cement banks. I think that because it is so historic and runs through the middle of the "City of Love" the idea of the Seine is more that the reality of the river itself.Visited July 2023Written 13 July 2023
- MrPKIBellevue, Washington1,012 contributionsThe culture of Paris but it is very pollutedIt is one of the best ways to see the city of Paris. Especially if you rent a bike and ride along the bike lines. It is very safe and fast way to see all the famous sites. But do not touch the water, it is very dirty!Visited July 2023Written 17 July 2023
- travellinggypsy04Makati, Philippines62 contributionsSeine arover Cruise at NightIt was my 2nd time doing the Seine River Cruise, I highly recommend doing it between 5-7pm so you’ll see the beauty of the Eiffel Tower with it’s twinkling lights at night. Went there last December when it was shivering cold but the boat cruise has blankets to warm us up. If you come by a little later than 7pm, it’s already hard to see the nice structures surrounding the river. Also, purchase the tickets several days before and come by the station a little early.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 19 July 2023
- RYOKOCalifornia12 contributionsA mustVery easy to organize. Several different companies. Better to do it at the begining of the stay to identify places you want to go. Best way to admire what is simply the most beautiful city of the world. You have to be on the upper/open deck. No point going inside. If you have time, take the longer tour.Visited August 2022Written 25 July 2023

We did the night time river cruise and I was not impressed, most of the sights were dark and hard to see. I complained that the audio guide should be also been done in English and I was informed he was speaking English? Very hard to understand. We did take the boat ride in the day time that stopped at various sites along the river and I found this a much better cruise, more to see and the availability of always catching another boat to the next stop.

Definitely a must do, whether you walk a large or small length of the river. Lots and lots to see (and do if you’d like a break from the walking).

The city was founded on this river because it provides important transportation through the region. And the city grew up along it, starting with one of the islands in the center, and then branching out. Now there are many touring and sites along it, perfect for long walks. And consider a river cruise, especially one for dinner when you can see the bridges with floodlights.

We hopped on Bateaux Parisiens boat line to finish the day ~ it was a perfect way to rest our feet after walking a 30,000 step loop. The cruise line started at the Eiffel Tower and went down the Seine River past the Norte Dame and then turned around to return to Eiffel Tower is only took an hour but it was a great way to see the River

Going out at night in this beautiful place reveals stunning lights. It's best to witness the sunrise and sunset instead of just the sun and moon. This place is undeniably beautiful. Going out at night, you're in for a treat as the stunning lights will leave you mesmerized. And if you're here, don't miss the chance to witness the spectacular sunrise and sunset - they truly are a sight to behold.

It depends on the cruise company. If it’s a cruise company with dinner cruises I would think they would let you upgrade. We did a dinner cruise the food was ok the atmosphere was great and the dinner cruises aren’t as crowded so it’s a better experience.

Hi, we'll be in Paris end of July, and I'm wondering whether I should buy a Seine cruise ticket ahead of time or whether I should wait to buy it when we're ready to go on the day. I'm hoping to go on just before they turn on the lights, and have the lights come on as we near the Eiffel Tower, so that I can take both golden hour as well as nighttime pictures, if that's possible. I'd like to take the Vedettes du Pont Neuf. The company's website says sunset on that day (July 28) is 10:13. However, when I googled it, the sunset time is 9:37. Would a 9:15 sailing be a good one to catch?

When visiting Paris it’s best to buy in advance for anything you want to see or do.

I swear I had found a Seine River night cruise that started at Point Neuf and ended at the Eiffel Tower. The cruise itself was only 30-40 minutes long and , if I remember right, it only had a couple of departures, both late at night.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I can't find it anywhere and I guess I forgot to bookmark it.
Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Anna - My husband & I just took pot luck with this - it was raining in Paris on the day - we just wanted to get to the Eiffel Tower and from there walk back to our hotel - we came out of the Louvre and went to the river - saw a kiosk which was a ticket sales - bought a ticket each & travelled back and forth whilst it rained and got out at the Eiffel Tower point after being on the boat for several rounds of the route it took - after about 3 round trips we got out finally after seeing it from the river- rained for quite a while this was in 2010 - things change but I am sure you would still be able to do this. Worth a try. Have fun & enjoy Paris whatever the weather is. We did and it has been very memorable for us.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me a good cruise company to book with? There are too many to choose from. Any help is appreciated! Going to Paris in 2 weeks. Thanks!

I like the one on the right bank not far from the Eiffel tower. That is what we use for work. Time it so you leave in the daylight and come back for first eiffel tower sparkle if you are looking for magic or romance.
The only thing I know for sure is not to go on one with dinner. Apparently they are systematically not worth it with sad food.
In general if you are in a tourist area with tons of restaurants and the menus are in 3 languages with a guy standing in the door to pull in tourists, walk to the next parallel street or two to find a real restaurant. This applies world wide.
Enjoy!
