Complete tourist trap. First, you never - never - see the Columbia Ice Fields - the staff informed me you can ONLY see the ice fields by helicopter. Second, you pay $37 to walk on a sky bridge that basically just overhangs a valley. Finally,...More

Nice gift shops ... not that we buy much when traveling but this gift shop had numerous decent items and very little on the junk side. We had lunch there also. Even though they were quite busy we got our food reasonably fast and the...More

We stopped here on our way down the Icefields Parkway expecting something informative about glaciers. We didn’t get it. The Parks Canada gallery and desk was already closed for the season and all that was left was a gift shop, a desk selling tickets to...More

A crowded place but sort of a “duh” statement since it’s at the base of the glacier and stopping point for the lots of fun tours on the glacier! Our tour group had a reserved tables meal here. Buffet and not bad considering the masses...More

Very informative place. We actually stopped as the road was impassable due to traffic and weather. They had updates on the road in a timely manner Food line was efficient and fast. Lots of great souvenirs.

This is what it has come down to! Fooling people for the sake of money. The expensive so called 'green' bus tours that these people are running are nothing but a money making mechanism that too on top of a glacier which is well known...More

The building itself is quite nice. You can either take the stairs to enter or there is a paved trail that leads to the building from the back of the parking lot. The day we went to the discovery center it was snowing hard up...More

Myself and my partner visited here not so long ago. The tour of the Athabasca Glacier was amazing but it all went quickly downhill when we decided to go for some lunch in the cafe. I got the poutine & a slice of pizza and...More

Love this place! Well organized. Enough facilities for the max expected visitors, staff with patience and accurate info. And the views are pretty amazing too.

Lots of parking and a modern information center with clean facilities...what's not to like? There are views of the Athabasca Glacier. There are order desks for the glacier walk and the skywalk, but I didn't think either was worth the price or time. Excellent views...More

That sounds great. Google says it’s a 4 hour drive but it will take longer because you will continually stop in awe! Perhaps take in the hot springs at Radium, right on 93. Coming along 93 toward the AB BC border ups... More

Forgot to mention: speed limits are lowered in the national parks, at times down to 70 kph where there is usually wildlife but normally 90 kph.
