Like Cancun but more of an adult scene. You will fly into Cancun but get a transfer to Riviera Maya. We did not what to expect because we didn't know anyone who had visited. We were very please with our trip.

This is a very nice place to relax. It is made for tourists and has not much Mexican's original things, but the water is warm and nice, turquoise and beautiful.

Riviera Maya is one of the most beautiful places to travel. Nature, culture, and fun everywhere. Delicious food and drinks. Activities to everyone, adventure, culture, rest and love. And less expensive than Hawaii.

We’ve been here now 5 times and each time we’re excited to plan when we can come back. We’ve even sent our kids here on their honeymoon. It’s a beautiful area with lovely beaches. One of our favorite vacation spots.

The beaches here are absolutely gorgeous. There is quite a bit of floating seaweed, but it doesn't really spoil the area. You can see lots of fish swimming around you as you wade in

I think "Riviera Maya" covers a stretch of beachside communities including Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and many sights in between. Thus, it should not count as ONE single attraction here on TripAdvisor. Though I think Playa del Carmen is overdeveloped and quite cheesy, overall my...More

Riviera Maya was one of the places in my wish list and exceeded by far my expectations. It has plenty of options to offer, definitely I will come back hopefully soon and more times.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at RUI Playacar, Playa del Carmen. We traveled with Jolidey and had previously booked excursions through our travel agent from our home in Spain. The flight was fantastic. When we arrived at Cancun airport, I was delighted by...More

When I went at the beginning of May there was quite a lot in Playa del Carmen, BUT there were huge (read: superhuman) efforts to remove it and/or block more from coming. In most cases you could step over the sargasso on... More

In my answer above, "tents" should be tetnus. (I'm sure I spelled it wrong again)
