This is where the locals go so you can get traditional Mexican food. It’s a little hard to find, there are a few souvenir stalls but not many, cheaper than market 28 and nice and friendly, no hassle off the vendors.

Take bus route #1 from hotel zone and tell driver you want to go here. Mercado 23 is actually across the busy street. Prices here are more reasonable and not as tourist oriented at the bigger Mercado 28. Loved all the food stands were you...More

this is where Mexico begins...the Mercado 23...tourist shopping and real Mexican food. You will not find lots of tourist over here but you surely can find better prices for your souvenirs

This one felt a little more authentic than market 28. It's not as large as market 28 but has a lot of the same items plus it has more of a farmer's market. The food was really nicely presented. It did not feel quite as...More

A market with souvenirs and real street food. We eat at almost all Food store we saw in the market. A real local market with only local people shop and eat around. All taco stores have it own way to flavor and cook, all tests...More

My family and I enjoyed this market. We went to Market 28 afterwards and we were disappointed with 28. At 28 they were pushy and didn’t want to take no for an answer. Market 23 was pleasant and none of the vendors made us feel...More

We took the R1 bus there, and fortunately there was an extra guy on the bus (maybe the bus driver's son) who helped translate and made sure got off the right stop and pointed for us to cross the street to get to Mercardo 23....More
