I have been here 40 plus times. This area offers great views food shopping people watching.. Great beach. Wonderful place to walk or just grab a lounge chair on the beach and kick it. The people are generally very nice. The deals on handicrafts are...More

Stayed for the first time in Zona Romantica and it was the best location! Most of the great restaurants and shopping and beach! Could walk easily to most places, beach, river, malecon!

This a completely bias review of this area of PV. I live here. I would just as soon have you not come to this part of town. I don’t relish the thought of having to wait in line behind you for a table in one...More

So much to see...... people, art, restaurants and more! This year we rented a condo overlooking the Malecon and it was a very different way to be part of the PV scene. We felt like we lived here after a week.... walking the two miles...More

My husband and I do not stay anywhere else, as this area of Puerto Vallarta is our favourite. Many Boutique hotels and bigger hotel chains to choose from in this area. Amazing restaurants, and places to walk. Only steps from the Malecon.

I prefer staying in the Romantic Zone when I visit PV. Walking distance to a plethora of bars, restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, ATMs, little posadas/local hotels, taco stands and Playa de los Muertos is just a block or two away. This week we stayed at...More

I am embarrassed to admit that I used to stay in Nueva Vallarta, imprisoned amongst other herded tourists, until I rediscovered downtown. This part of downtown ( along with Zona Rosa in Mexico City) is about as close as you will get to a neighborhood...More

A local of Puerto Vallarta recommended El Centro. He said it is where a lot of the locals shop and go. It had a ton of shopping from clothes to trinkets to jewelry. There are a lot of restaurants too! You can walk along the...More

Plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and hotels. We stayed here in late September so and that is the off season for tourists many of the folks on the street are locals. We felt very safe and people were friendly.

The nicest restaurant we went to was La Palapa on the beach. We actually walked to eat a El Dorado which was highly recommended by both the locals and trip advisor but we weren't sure of the menu. But right before El Dorado... More
