Canaries is an 'atmospheric' small fishing village on the west coast of St. Lucia. We visited in the morning, the people were extremely friendly and happy.. There were several fishing boats around the beach, and frigate birds overhead looking for scraps of fish. Lovely place...More

Nice little detour we took on an island tour. Nice to see how the local live and to hear stories of the village from today and years in the past as well.

They describe it as a 'Fishing Village' It's a simple sort of a place that appears to exist on Tourism and Fishing in that order. The buildings are basic and rustic, there is the mandatory Church and numerous small fishing boats pulled up onto the...More

This little fishing village has immense charm and is worth a detour. We saw a huge haul of lobsters just farmed. The little beach and the unusual houses show a part of St Lucia often missed by the usual tours. Highly recommended.

On our journey between Canaries and Anse La Raye, our guidebook recommended stopping off at Plas Kassav, the island's only baker and seller of the popular cassava bread. The opening hours seemed up for debate but once we managed to get inside, the variety of...More

We drove through Canaries on our way to Soufrier. The town was a very small, quaint fishing village. On the way back to Canaries, we stopped at several scenic overlooks both south and north of town and the views were fantastic. I wish we had...More
