An esplanade greets you as you walk towards the Fort San Felipe del Morro. Surrounded by grassy hills, the stone castle rises majestically from the headland. And while El Morro may be an impressive sight from land, it is a terrifying experience to...more

Very interesting site to visit. Rangers were very informative about the history of the fort and the different rolls it played. Very well preserved with incredible views. Great backdrop for some pictures. Well worth the entrance fee. Be sure to wear lots of sunscreen.

I was so impressed at how well this historic fort has been preserved. The few repairs that I could find were so accurate that most would never notice them. I also enjoyed that they haven’t put guard rails around every possible hazard, but with that...More

Walked to the fort from the cruise port on 10/9. Cost to enter was $7pp and was very reasonable for the amount of time we spent walking around the fort. If you have a national park pass, I believe it is no additional charge to...More

Throw on some comfy shoes and head to this historic site! I spent about 2 hours there walking around and it was well worth it. Right off the coast! So the scenery is jaw dropping. Stop here and then upon completion head over to Old...More

For the history buffs, this is the perfect walking, self guided tour. Pace yourself, because to truly experience the magnificence of this historic site, 2-4 hours of walking is required. Wear comfortable shoes, and have your iPhone fully charged for some great pics!!

Probably our favorite self-guided tour. We became tired after 2 hours. But we enjoyed learning about the history and the brilliant construction. You need good walking shoes and I recommend touring early in the morning when the sun and heat aren’t intense.

Visiting here is a must if you go to San Juan. You can't go to San Juan and not visit the forts. The views are great and there is soo much history to learn here that can't be found anywhere else.

Get your walking shoes and a hat! Lot's of stairs and walking! I wish we would have gone early morning when it wasn't so sunny and hot.. It was hard to enjoy the Fort because it absorbs so much heat! Very little shade to rest...More

There are complimentary golf carts around the city.. they are yellow. There is no way to schedule them but if you keep an eye out, they are around!
