Sundays have all day crowds on the Malecon in Puerto plata. The beaches are full with sunseekers, frolicking and patrons of the shops, restaurants and bars. It's crazy fun from Long beach all the to the Fort! Enjoy!!

Puerto Plata's Malecon is beautiful and easily accessible. You can walk along the ocean line, sit for a while, and/or visit the stores and restaurants along the way. Loved the Neptune statue on one of the rocks.

This is not your typical Malecon, you will walk for a very long time and see very few places. Very few vendors, which is nice at times but also very few drink shacks or food carts. The Malecon is very dirty. The beach on the...More

I was pleasantly surprised that this roadway was so clean, as I saw plenty of trash in the northern D.R. The drive is attractive, and of course you can see the beach and sea on one side. It's a nice way to pass through Puerto...More

The Malecon is on the eastern end of Puerto Plata. Best to hire a taxi to take you. It is about a 20 min. drive - you will pass through the City - it will depend which route you want to take - a reputable cabbie will give... More

As with any country or destination, you must be careful and aware of your location. I would not carry large amounts of money, cameras, expensive jewellery etc. In most cases you would likely hire a taxi or do a tour booked... More
