Very nice and interesting architecture and history. Well maintained and informative. With Ocean on background, it is beautiful scenery. You can spend time just to relax.

Stopped here during the city tour. Brace yourself for the many vendors trying to sell you their wares. Once you get past them and the lady with the dressed up donkey you get to the fort. They give you radios with earphones o so you...More

In the Caribbean it is common to have a stone fort at the entrance to major harbours and that is the case in Puerto Plata. Locauon gives a great view of the sea and a walk through a bit of history. 100 peso entrance fee...More

Once in Puerta Plata, you should visit this historic place. Even the architecture is interesting. Inside the ticket zone, there is a small interesting museum with historic pictures and old weapons. It is also interesting to walk through the outside area and the surrounding.

Great place to stop and take pictures! Didn’t go inside as they charge for entry and all the beauty was outside!

Usually I really like visiting historical places when I go to a new city but I found this underwhelming. Was surprised at the size, smaller than I was expecting and the headsets given to us to self-tour through the building did not work. Most people...More

Yes there are restrooms but I did not use them so cannot comment on the cleanliness. Sounds like others answered as well and they had used the facilities

There is a small fee (a few dollars). Some parking...kids might like it. Doesn't take long to see it (half hour to an hour, tops). Avoid hottest part of the day if possible. Bring water.
