It was a long drive from Kona to HVNP. We were hoping to see at least a little bit of a molten lava, but we did not see any, we were not disappointed. We were glad that we went. We tour ourselves. We started around...More

A visit to the park provides the opportunity to experience the primeval forces of nature as it formed and continues to shape the islands of Hawaii. Whilst the lava has stopped flowing after 40 years, following the eruptions of 2018, and the glow from the...More

As you stand there it feels surreal. Mother Nature puts you in your place here. We went last minute with a friends suggestion and I’m glad we did. Amazing!!!

The Vulcanos National Park is definitely a must see on Big Island. It's amazing to see how the lava formed the Hawaiian islands.

Long drive to see . . . not much. No volcanic activity. Crater is bigger. Whoopee. Many trails closed. Long drive does have some great scenery.

Visiting Hawaii Volcanoes national park should be the first thing to do while visiting The big island of Hawaii. Amazing place. I fell in love when I first arrived to this place. Volcanic steam everywhere and the view of the volcanoes is incredible. I enjoyed...More

The volcanoes and eco-systems are dramatic and can be fascinating, yet the site is rather difficult to explore/comprehend in a short visit because thick forest and limited road access, and self-imposed time visit limitations often constrain visitors to too much driving, and a few parking...More

Inn on the park Honolulu might be okay, not sure of your budget or how many nights, it is listed on booking, if that helps.

Download the Shaka guide in your App Store. We did minor hikes.. very minor.. we say most of the volcano stuff in one day.. if you like it enough, you can take 2 days.
