We loved this park. It was actually pretty busy, but we had no problem finding parking at the hiking sites and viewpoints. This place is a hiking mecca! Some lovely hikes from easy to hard, with beautiful views. Spent one day touring the park and...More

Capitol Reef is a spectacular national park. There's easy access to a petroglyph site and the Hickman Bridge trail is a comfortable walk to a pleasant family destination.

The drive through this park offers some great views of geologic formations as well as interesting history of people who lived in the area. There is a short walk with petroglyphs and a fruit farm from early Mormon settlers. It is well worth a visit.

Hickman Bridge is, in my opinion, the best natural bridge/arch we saw on our trip to Utah. (And yes, we did ALL the national parks, including Arches). We were lucky to be in the park at a time when both apples and pears were in...More

I have been to over 2 dozen national parks. Capitol Reef is now my new favorite. You must visit. You must drive Scenic Drive. You must drive out to the eastern entrance and drive at least the paved section of Notom Road. Even the state...More

Drove from Canyon lands to Capital Reef, my last National Park in Utah, having seen 4 National Park in less than 34 hrs excluding Zion (been to it before). It took 2hr 30 minutes to get there about 145miles. Driving past farms and green lands...More

After Zion and Byrce I was afraid I would be let down with other parks but each one was uniquely spectacular. Capital Reef was let crowded which made the hiking even more fun.

We were only here for a day trip, but we felt like it was the perfect amount of time. Upon arrival, we stopped by Panoramic Point, which was an awesome intro to the park. We then went to the Visitors Center to get a map,...More

Third national park on our road trip thru southern Utah to do the Mighty Five. Not one of the better ones in my opinion. Highlight was the drive through the gorge on a very bumpy dirt road. Quite amazing to experience the magnitude and height...More

Stopped here for a full day between Bryce and Zion. We were not disappointed. We hiked near Chimney rock and Hickman Bridge. Petroglyphs are OK here but you will find better ones at Valley of Fire. Nice visitors Center and we went to the ranger...More

All I can add is that in late September in the middle of the week the entire campground (one of the most beautiful in the area) was full. I would definitely make reservations.
