I stayed in 1001 Night Wahiba Accommodation which was sooooo amazing experience. Because we traveled in winter time, so night was very cold but nice !! My opinion please don't come after April, as will be so hot.
We had a fantastic trip with the best local tour guide Mr Salim Al-Wahibi.
Mr. Salim is a true gentleman, with 19 years of experience in the area, he knows the terrain like the back of his hand and speaks good english.

Its quite a long drive up from Salalah. some people do it back-and-forth in one day. I would recommend to stay overnight in a beduin camp nearby. the dunes are as spectacular in the morning as in the evening.

I think it would be much easier to rent a 4x4 from muscat, its a 600 km roundtrip to the sands and then onto wadi bani khabir, brilliant swimming and very easy to find, would bother with public busses. Also in... More
I think it would be much easier to rent a 4x4 from muscat, its a 600 km roundtrip to the sands and then onto wadi bani khabir, brilliant swimming and very easy to find, would bother with public busses. Also in muscat there are plenty of tourbus operators who can take you on a guided tour, but then you have to fit in with their schedule.
