Le Marais
About
Get lost in one of the most charming neighborhoods in Paris, brimming with unique boutiques and stylish art galleries. Besides its vibrant LGBTQIA+ community, Le Marais also has a rich Jewish heritage, with winding streets lined with historic medieval architecture. If you're looking for a night out, head to one of the many gay bars or clubs that the area is known for. Take a walking tour to discover fascinating insights about the neighborhood, or a food tour to have a taste of the area's vibrant culinary scene—travelers say the falafel is some of the best! Visit during the week for fewer crowds and wear comfortable walking shoes to navigate the neighborhood's cobblestone streets. – Tripadvisor

A place for pleasure and shopping
La Marrais is one of the most visited place in Paris by local and tourist. This is the Boystown of Paris, but also the little Red District for tourist. In this area you will find the new shopping mall owned by Westfield Mall and inside lots of stores that offer lots of things such as French newest Fashion clothing, shoes, and more. The mall is located inside underground. Most of eatery Restaurant are outside on the street level. There is something for everybody. A must visit area for tourist..

    Great area
In my opinion, this is the most interesting area of Paris. Retaining much from the old days, it is now filled with many shops, restaurants and bars, as well as old buildings with very interesting architecture. The walk here was definitely worth the effort.

A very interesting area of Paris to visit!
It was our last day in Paris and the 5 of us were determined to visit the Marais district. It is somewhat unique, with lots of seemingly locals sitting at cafes and walking the streets. The architecture in this area is as lovely as other closely residential areas of Paris. There are many interesting small shops and quaint places to eat and a beautiful church across from Hotel Emil. Wish we had more time there.

    Historic Village
This is by far my favorite area of Paris to explore. We arrived at about 9:30 on a Sunday and had the streets mostly to ourselves, following a self guided walking tour from Hotel de Ville to Musee des Arts et Metiers. There are so many historic sites. Musee Carnevelat was a treat. Free and not crowded with a wonderful collection of artifacts spanning the history of Paris. Best croissant of the trip so far at Royal Turenne. We took about 3.5 hours but easily could have spent the whole day

    Walking around the Marais.
My husband and I found our way to Le Marais often. We did a Jewish tour of Le Marais. This would have to be one of Paris’s best area. Full of life with little shops everywhere and cafes. We just loved walking around. My favorite store in the Marais is the Rituals cosmetics. Sophia who served me is wonderful with helping to choose what’s best for your skin. I love the products. Took my friend and she bought the firm moisturizing day cream. She loved it so much she when back and bought more of the products. The side streets with all the architecture is just beautiful.

    Parisian surprise!
I was in Paris couple of times, yet always was bit skeptical to put aside some time to explore Le Marais PROPERLY, thinking that its bit ''overhyped'' place, and like yeah some district or area or whatever, why to bother,. I was wrong! We had quite a fantastic walk with GF, exploring a lot of lets say (ok clichee, but true) parisian charm, had a nice dinner too. Next time we try to book hotel here.

    Charming and artsy!
The Marais district was so charming! We loved the beautiful architecture, street art, and art studios. We visited the Museé National Picasso and Merci department store and highly recommend both! I do wish we could have spent more time perusing the beautiful boutiques, Place des Vosges, and cute bistros. Next time!

Wonderful place to windowshop, people watch and stroll
Whenever we visit Paris, we make certain we spend some part of our time strolling in the Marais. The shops, art boutique and name stores are fun to browse in. And around every corner there is a restaurant or cafe. Great place to enjoy and unwind.

We had a fabulous 2 1/2 hour walking tour in Le Marais with Viator’s tour guide, Ugo.

Ugo has a post graduate degree in history and speaks many languages. His love of history really enlivens your tour.

He found our interests and focused what we saw and learned based on them.

He’s personable, engaging, and very well educated.

We are an elderly couple and he paced us at an easy-to-walk rate, incorporating having us sit and learn a couple of times.

Having a private tour geared to what interested us was an excellent choice and Ugo made it happen.

This is a part of town where you will want to spend a lot of time. It is full of history and museums. Developed during the 16th and 17th centuries as a fashionable suburb, carved out of swamps and gardens. Then fashion moved on and it became an immigrant area full of small apartments. Now fashion is back along with some of the best shopping in Paris, plus good food and coffee.

This is a typical neighborhood in Paris. If you happen to be there, great. Otherwise don't take a detour to get there. We did and regretted the wasted time. Go to the Latin Quarter instead.

Everything is here - things to visit, places to eat and drink as well as pick up bits of grocery.
The area is beautifully positioned to see the famous sights but great for a wander around.

This neighborhood had played an important part in French history since the 13th century when the Order of the Temple constructed a fortified church, which inspired several beautiful religious buildings and the epicenter of the Parisian Jewish community. Start with a classic breakfast of cafe au lait and a buttered tartine or, of course, a perfect croissant.

Loved my time roaming around this area so many boutiques and shops mixed with old chateaux’s. Boutiques were expensive but clothing was all unique and the odd recycled store can be found.
