About
One way to enjoy the seabed is the practice of snorkeling in Isla de Tabarca. This modality that only requires diving goggles, a tube and fins, allows us to observe the marine fauna of the Isla Tabarca Reserve at a shallow depth and discover the different parts of this paradise that we have so close and little known.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 390maretl0 contributionsOpen water diver courseHighly recommend! Very professional and extremely patient instructors, Victor and Hector. Very satisfied with the open water diver course.Written 23 September 2024
- gvdima0 contributionsVery good dive centre with nice and professional staffScuba Elx treats you as a licensed diver, responsinle for the dive end to end. They are ready to help with everything you can not solve, yet thwy will not do it furst hand before you tried it. Thei will have am eye on everyone onder the water, yet without papmepeing you, instead giving you a chance to have control on your actions, wgich is helpful, so be ready to share with them your needs or intentions for the dive Hector is an exoerienced and hands on guide, with a sense of humour and accepring what cand be changed in certain circumstances. On the way back he reviewed some learning points with the less experienced divers (tirist dibers that dive a couple if times/year). Good dibe spits, the Groupers land in particular! Not rushed up, plan everything to give best chances for all, including a safety cilinder in the water for tjose less experiencesd, so that they will not spoil the whole group. Very good exoerience, strongly rec!Written 20 August 2023
- Jet7954980 contributionsFantastic diving experience in Tabarca!Very professional , safe and friendly. We have tried different places in the area and Scuba Elx is - without any doubt - the best diving centre in Santa Pola. All dives from the boat. NITROX available , different sizes of diving cylinders available up to 15L to make your dive last longer. And even more - are you a “super pro” accredited technical diver?. Then, Scuba Elx is your place - technical dives available up to 56 mtrs. I can’t recommend them more.Written 12 May 2021
- Guzmán Á0 contributionsAmazing experienceWe took the diving baptism course. We were 4 people and 3 instructors came with us. The most remarkable part is how professional they were: underwater they showed very intuitively what to do, asked if everything was ok, and so on, and we felt always safe. First they gave us the equipment, then on the way to the diving place they explained everything. We went underwater, I believe for almost 1h, then up again and back to Santa Pola. We went up to 14.5 m down, and saw quite a lot of species that they had previously shown from a book. You can even go if you cannot swim, they will just help you move around. Overall it was a super positive experience, we will for sure repeat next time we come to Santa Pola!!Written 12 August 2015
- Keith B0 contributionsDiving Tabarca island, Santa Pola. The waters around Tabarca island form the oldest marine reserve in Spain, providing a good mix of dives with good fish life. I like to Dive with Scuba ELX. The company is operated by a local family who have excellent knowledge of the dive sites and can provide equipment, training and boat hire. Staff speak English and are helpful.Written 30 October 2014

The whole thing was a bit mixed.
The quick trip to the island and the snorkeling itself were really nice and fun. However, getting on the boat in the middle of the crowded beach with what felt like a hundred bathers and leaving clothes unattended (valuables could be deposited in lockers at the meeting point at Scuba Elx beforehand) on the beach was a bit (let's say) "weird". The guides communicated with the participants almost exclusively in Spanish, although an English guide was specified when booking. So it was sometimes a matter of guessing and interpreting when asked "And now what?". The guides' efforts to look after the weaker members of the group "No one is left behind" were flawless.
The material was worn out from repeated use and one or two people had to struggle with poor visibility (constant fogging, scratched visor). But it was all understandable. The only thing that was really "weird" was actually "getting into the fray and leaving clothes unattended".
An explicit note on the website would definitely be advisable, then we would have at least arrived there with significantly reduced equipment and would have plunged into the waves with less of a queasy feeling.
Funnily enough, we could see seagulls poking around in the bags of the bathers. But we didn't miss anything, probably the wrong size 🤣 or not tasty enough 😉.
All in all, a nice experience and if what is described doesn't put you off or is included in your planning, you're in for a lot of fun. With all of the above, we tend to give it somewhere between good and satisfactory, but due to the somewhat high price (for the value described) we tend to give it a 3 plus (satisfactory plus).

Disappointing experience. Due to incomplete equipment, 1 person in our group was unable to snorkel properly.
The diving goggles did not close properly, so we were busier with the goggles than snorkeling. The excursion took place on the island among the other bathers on the beach in the harbor, so we didn't see much more than a few fish that we could have spotted ourselves with diving goggles. We don't need an instructor for this!
Received the very unclear photos 2 days after the trip.
So definitely not worth the money!

A very good experience to come to the island of Tabarca and get to snorkel with very good guides. The guides took very good care of us, everything was prepared before we arrived so finding equipment went smoothly. They took good care like us throughout the tour and we got refreshments soda water and cake on the beach. They were very helpful and even offered tips on staying on the island.

We do recommend this experience. Adam and his mate did a wonderful job of making everyone comfortable and feel safe. We were a group of 8 people and was so well taken care of. The waters wasn't spectacular, but it was OK.

Hello,
We will be visiting the end of November. Will wetsuits be provided as gear along with the mask, fins and tubes when we snorkel?
Thank you,
Shaleena
