A must go experience in Mt Cook
Definitely worth it. The whole trip lasts about three hours. Went through three blue ice holes, lucky enough to be the first public group to one of the newly found blue hole by our professional lovely guides.

      Avoid this unprofessional company
AVOID THIS UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY. This is a nightmare company to work with. We booked a quick 20 minute ride for 11:30, only to be emailed, not called, to say that our ride had been bumped to 12pm and we needed to call them to confirm our spot. We called and left a message since nobody decided to pick up. We arrived at 11:15 and were told that we probably won't fly at 12 either but could PAY MORE and get on the 1pm flight. We were given a guarantee it would fly. So, we decided to wait around until check in for that flight after paying the required amount to 'upgrade'. We went to check in at 12:45 only to be told they cancelled it and we could wait another hour if we wanted to. We asked to speak with their manager and she decided to cancel the flight then go on break to smoke in the parking lot. After she finally decided to come back, she told us that she can't process a refund for us and to contact a completely different company. When I asked the manager if there was a NZ business complaint agency, she refused to tell me and kept avoiding giving any information. I had to find out through a Google search. We've stayed in NZ for 10 days and haven't run into such a dishonest, unprofessional company and staff as this one. Save your time and money for a better, reputable and professional company. -10/10, would never recommend.

      Amazing 55 minute helicopter tour!
What a fabulous experience! Flying high over Mount Cook and Mount Tasman and then popping over the other side to see the Fox and Frank Josef glacier with distant views of the sea on the west wide of New Zealand. We landed on the Tasman glacier for about ten minutes which was a fabulous experience to appreciate the majesty of the area. And the views….oh my! There were 6 of us in the helicopter with Mike who did a great job of trying to keep the copter smooth and level at the blustery top! A fabulous experience that you should do if money allows. You won’t be disappointed! Note: no handbags or bags allowed, no peak caps, no selfie sticks or droves. Travel light with your camera or phone! There is a nice cafe at the check in station and loos too! Arrive early as you might get a change (depending on your weight) to nab the front seat!

      Not landing on great glacier
The helicopter was only landing on a small piece of ice but not a great glacier which is out of my expectation

Could not recommend this enough - words do not do it justice!
This was the best experience from our entire 3 week trip to New Zealand. Landing on the glacier and then hiking across it for a mile before being picked up by helicopter and flown back across the mountains was like nothing we had ever experienced before and there honestly aren't enough superlatives to describe how much we enjoyed it! Matt and Sam (our guides) were brilliant - super friendly, very knowledgeable and really went out of their way to ensure we had the best time possible on the trip. Could not recommend this enough!

Great experience except for system around weight
The views on this flight were incredible and I appreciated the interesting info shared by the pilot about the surrounding landscape. Would’ve appreciated hearing a bit about the local Māori history as well. Snow landing was very cool! Something I was unprepared for was (despite my husband sharing our weights ahead of time) being weighed on the day and having this written on a wristband without explanation, I assume for purpose of distributing weight evenly in the helicopter. As someone who chooses not to know my own weight this was incredibly uncomfortable and I was concerned about staff potentially reading it out loud as several of them looked at it to determine where I would sit. I suggest there are many better ways to have managed this more subtlety and hope it will be considered how this system has the potential to cause discomfort for many passengers.

Breathtaking, like stepping onto another planet...
Always try to allow additional days around a Heli-hike to account for poor weather. Heli-hikes were cancelled in the days leading up to our departure, however we were fortunate with the weather on our day, beautiful blue skies, and low wind. There were 5 people in our group, plus our guide who was Andy. The helicopter portion was 9 minutes long and absolutely incredible. I had never been in a helicopter before and at every turn, I was in awe. Incredible views of the Tasman glacier, snowy capped mountains and Mt Cook! The landing was smooth and those first steps onto ice felt like from a movie set. After fitting our crampons and receiving a short lesson on how to use them efficiently, Andy was able to create a route based on the ability of the group. We slowly made our way across the glacier, stepping over crevasses, with Andy having no set path to traverse across the ice. Our first ice cave we visited was said to be the longest one that had been found in a long time, slowly getting bigger over time. We were given a generous amount of time to spend in here, taking pictures and walking through at our own pace. The second ice cave, whilst smaller, was a unique shape and had some chutes which I could climb into, making it exciting to explore. We spent 1 hour and 50 min on the ice and walked around 4km, very achievable for most people and could be more or less depending on the group. The helicopter back was also around 9 minutes and we got to ride in the front seat, where we were once again treated to breathtaking views. Andy was a good guide and explained quite in depth how glaciers were formed. We were not required to wear a harness and tether ourselves to one another so there was lots of freedom on the ice.

Best tour the entire trip, worth every dollar
This was the best tour of the entire trip. Scott was our guide and he was safe, clear, passionate and very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience exploring the glaciers, the Mulans, the heli ride, it was simply a breathtaking trip.

      Wonderful wonderland experience
This was one of our top experiences on our 20 day journey through NZ. It was a magical wonderland. I am a little older and not too tall. So when the other nine people arrived, all young and tall, I expressed to my guide Andy, my concern for not being able to keep up. He was understanding and quite experienced as he put me right behind him. He made me feel like i was his best friend as he made sure I was safe and was able to enjoy every minute without slowing the group down. Thank you to Andy and the entire Mt Cook group for this incredible experience.

      Definitely worth doing
Really enjoyed our heli hike experience with Troy as a guide. We saw lots of cool things on the ice and the glacial water we collected tasted so pure and fresh it was great. Would have liked it to have more of a safety briefing of what to do on the ice if something happened. It was all fine but the health and safety briefing was all about getting on and off the helicopter and nothing about the equipment that Troy was carrying or if anything happened to him. Also some bigger sizes in coats would have been appreciated and water proof trousers people got very muddy and wet through the holes in the ice.

      Awesome Helihike experience
We went with Scott and Eddy today 01/11/22. It was an amazing experience. I do have a bit of fear with flights and flying, but the whole experience felt very safe. Scott and Eddy, were both very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. They were very good guides. I’m so glad I took my water bottle to drink the glacier water. Best water I’ve had. Thank you so much! Would love to come back to do another trip.

Take a hike on the glacier side!
We took the heli-hike to Tasman Glacier. This is experience vastly exceeded our expectations. The guides and pilot were outstanding and took the time to make sure we were comfortable with the equipment and knew how to walk with crampons. When needed, the guides gave a helping hand to navigate difficult parts of the terrain for whomever needed it. They provided useful information about glaciers and showed us some noteworthy aspects including an ice cave, a cascade of melting ice, and water trickling underground at the bottom of a crevasse. Kudos to our team of guides, Scott, Eddie, Zach and Troy.

This was a real bucket list experience! We took my mum-in-law on a trip of a lifetime for her 80th birthday and this glacier flight was a real highlight. We had the loveliest pilot, Sam, with whom we felt very safe in a heli gliding over the exquisite glaciers. From the moment we walked in to the office, the lovely Dior took care of us and the professionalism continued from start to finish. Our family loved this day - my 17 year old daughter said it's one of the best things she has done and she has travelled a fair bit.

Will always remember this experience. It was one of the highlights of our Honeymoon in New Zealand. At first I thought it was a little bit expensive but it was worth every penny! You get beautiful views from the helicopter ride and once you land on the Tasman glacier it is even better. Walking over deep crevasses and exploring the ice caves! We had some kids on our tour and they did fine. We got lucky and even had a helicopter for the two of us because that is just how the groups got split up. It makes me smile just thinking about it :)

I had a perfect experience with this company. The welcome and check in from Dior and the team was friendly and efficient, the flight was fantastic in perfect weather conditions. The commentary and service from the pilot, Simon, was spot on! Would certainly recommend, and believe it is well worth the price point.

This was a beautiful way to view the NZ glaciers and mountain ranges. Well worth the effort (I hate heights). Thanks to our very knowledgeable pilot Simon. The snow landing was a fun chance for an impromptu snow fight.

Loved it! From check in, to safety instructions, flight itself - staff were professional and friendly. Pilot was cool. The views are incredible. The landing on the ice was sensational as we had a fantastic view across the valley to Mt Cook. Flight back to Lake Pukaki and Tasman very interesting as well. Well worth it - once in a lifetime? Last November we had experienced the 40 minutes "Mountains High" flight in the Southern Alps. It was the only available helicopter flight on that perfect sunny afternoon. The flight starts from Glentanner Park, at the foot of the mountains at Mount Cook Village. Each helicopter carries maximum of 7 people, including the pilot. We were lucky to have just 4 tourists, so that only 3 people sat at the back and had more space to move. One person sat next to the pilot, they both had the ringside seat! After we have fastened the seat-belts and put on the headphones which are for the communication with the pilot, who told us about the flight and the mountain region.
After lift-off, we flew along Tasman River into the Aoraki/Mt. Cook National Park. The
Tasman Lake and the Glacier were just before our eyes. 10 minutes later, we landed
on the top of a snow capped peak. We got off and took so many beautiful pictures and video while enjoying the fantastic views! Be careful not to get too close to the edge! We stayed about 20 minutes at the top, then continued our flight towards the eastern face of Aoraki/Mt. Cook. It is the tallest mountain in NZ, 3754 metres high! We also saw people walking on the snowy mountain slope. What a sensational experience and feelings so close to this magnificent mountain!
Flew back to the base above the Hooker River with the crystal blue Lake Pukaki
on the far side. What an experience, what a flight, which was not cheap but it was worth! Just remember to enjoy life! We can always earn our money back.

I want to start off by saying I am terrified of flying but my friend that I was traveling with really wanted to do the flight, which of course was one of the longest flights - mountain high option.
We flew to a mountain range that was directly in line with Mt. Cook, there was a little bit of cloud up there but as we stepped off onto the snow it all cleared, it was the most spectacular view I have ever seen. Words could not describe it. I got talking to the pilot and explained I was a bit worried about flying and he managed to put me completely at ease. From then on we went across mountain ranges and saw Franz Josef and Fox Glacier as well as Tasman Glacier. To see the glaciers from the air is the only way, the colors of the ice, the cravess and the colors of the lakes was nothing short of spectacular. I would highly recommend this flight it was such a fantastic was to see some of New Zealand's best sights in one go.

Very professional, and the guides were great. We had no qualms at all about how the production was fun. There was a lot of attention to safety and all the equipment we needed which was really appreciated.

However, in our case, we didn't think it was worth the money for the following reasons: a) somewhat clowdy, the views / scenery weren't much different than what could be seen out the hotel, b) the helicopter ride was very short, c) the walk itself was pretty boring. Basically walking on a large ice sheet for an hour, d) no glacier tunnels / passages or other types of unique challenges.

I think part of this comes down to luck, as conditions vary but honestly, even with great scenery, its still pretty expensive for what comes down to a walk on a large sheet of ice. Really cool helicopter scenery would have made it worth it, but we didn't get that - you take the helicopter straight to a very large, completely flat, sheet of ice, and walk around for a bit. Thats literally all it is.

Thank you for your review and praise of our guides. I am sorry to hear that the trip was not worth the money. Many of our overseas guests have travelled a long way to experience our heli hike which is why on cloudy days we still operate the trip as long as it is safe to do so. Conditions on the ice are always changing, our guides do their best to find caves, crevasses and features to explore but these change day by day. The helicopter flies over the Tasman Glacier Lake and over the stunning ice formations on the Tasman Glacier even when there is cloud up high. Thank you again for your review from the team at The Helicopter Line.

Taking a 30min helicopter ride and viewing stunning valley view from above, then landed on Tasman glacier, hiking around for 3h+, including ice cave. It's a must-do when you visit south island. The reason I think Tasman is better than Franz-joseph is there is much less people, there are only 5 people walking on a 23km glacier for 3h. You are literally walking in ice age that formed tens of thousands years ago.

We were driving past and decided on a whim to stop and take a ride on March 30th at around 330pm, we did the 30 helicopter flight with the glacier landing. The day was amazing and the scenery was beautiful. The only downside was that the pilot seemed bored and uninterested as if he had done the trip a thousand times. Would have been nice for a bit of warmth and enthusiasm. But overall was worth the experience as the views were crazy good. Not sure if would do again as it was very pricey and can now tick of my bucket list
