The trip tour details is a bit misleading. You are paying for a shuttle driver and less of a tour guide. It’s a 5.5 hr drive to Milford Sound each way with several gas station stops. The picnic lunch is a pre-packaged sandwich, apple, packaged muffin, chips, and chocolate bar from the gas station. Our driver was very nice, but I would skip this tour in hindsight.

        Fantastic trip. Recommend +++
This was fantastic. A long trip to Milford Sound but our driver/guide Sarah was fantastic. Lots of stops many to see notable sites and views so the drive was truly integrated into the day. Milford Sound was awesome and the smaller cruise ship was just perfect. Recommend to anyone of virtually any age.

SENSATIONAL - YOU MUST DO THIS
WOW WOW WOW.. This tour is worth every cent & and early start. We were picked up by mini bus in Tea Anau, 7.30am for the drive to Milford Sound. Kevin our driver/guide was fabulous, sharing local knowledge and tips, while stopping at scenic lookouts, lakes and bridges & importantly, convenient loo stops. Kevin was kind, funny and patient with everyone and took our photos as we stopped. Legend ! The scenery is jaw dropping with so many wow moments, and the cruise (Cruise Milford Sound) was sensational, again with expert commentary, tea/coffee and cookies included. Our tour included a packed lunch (yum sandwiches, fruit, muffins, chocolate, chips, water, juice and mints). My partner, despite adjusting to the cold ( we are from the Gold Coast, Queensland) loved every minute of what I call an 'exploratory adventure'. After the cruise, we headed back to Te Anau with more jaw dropping scenery and a few Lord of the Rings location photo stops, arriving back in Te Anau around 2.30 pm. We give this tour and Kevin 10/10 for the experience, service & value.

        Fabulous guide and glorious scenery
We started our day with a fantastic guide, Dani. She is seriously the best driver we have ever had anywhere in the world. Safe, knowledgeable, clear, fun, helpful. We were blown away by her sense of humor and organization of the day. We had all ages and abilities in our group. One heli-hiker and one heli-scenic cruiser. It took five minutes to drop off the heli-hiker at the airport just outside the entrance to the park. On the day we were there, the skies were blue and never clouded over. Dani made sure people were prepared for the sun. She also spoke with each group to determine how long they wanted to hike. Several only wanted to be on the Hooker Trail for an hour or two. So she made arrangements to meet them, and transport one to the Heli-scenic flight and another group to Mt. Cook for lunch. Then she came back to get the rest of us three hours later. Three hours allowed us enough time to hike to the end, have 20-25 minutes for our bagged lunch and then hike back. We are in our 60’s and fit (and had trail shoes on our feet). On the way back, we picked up our Heli-hiker and still had plenty of time to top at the Salmon farm and for ice cream on the way back to Queenstown. It is a long day, but a great day with a variety of experiences and wonderful stories from Dani. It was one of our best days in NZ.

        Heart-throbbing splendor
Long bus ride made much more fun by Colin’s quite interesting history and anecdotes about the area. We made several stops along the way that gave us a real sense of the geology of the area. The boat ride on Milford sound clocked in at 1.45, a bit less than the 2 hours on the itinerary. It was wonderful and the captain provided good information and some humor along the way. Milford Sound — ahem, Fjord, is a beauty and a wonder not to be missed. Colin was fantastic as a host and font of knowledge. Give that man a bonus, Cheeky Kiwi!

Great way to get from Christchurch to Mount Cook
We travelled from Christchurch to Mount Cook with Cheeky Kiwi Travel, in a minibus. Pick up was late, because of a problem with the original vehicle, which was unfortunate. However, the rest of the journey was very good. The guide/driver was excellent, talking almost continually about the various places we were travelling through, giving great information. We stopped off several times on route, and the scenery for most of the journey was spectacular. This is a great alternative to those not wishing to drive while on holiday.

        Easy, full filling, stunning.
Fantastic tour to say the least. Well organized with proper bus stops for coffee/bathroom breaks, sightseeing spots and photographs, delicious lunch and of course absolutely stunning boat ride and a flight. Pure joy. Wonderful guides. Very relaxing yet reach and full filling tour. Must do!!!

Milford sound Cruise and Fiordland National Park day tour
We had a great day, enjoyed the stops along the way for sightseeing and photo opportunities. The two hour cruise was amazing. We were given lunch and snacks and we did stop for a coffee break early in the day. It was a long day but glad we got to see such a special part of the world. We had a great guide who told us about the places along the way and there was also time to get some rest in. Would definitely recommend this tour!

Wonderful experience too and from Milford Sound
We had an amazing day. Everything was so very well organised. We were picked up on time and our timings were perfect for the whole day. Danni our guide was wonderful, allowing quiet time for the first hour for everyone to catch up on some sleep while it was still dark. Danni explained and commentated throughout the drive to and from Milford Sound. Consideration was given to regular bathroom break stops and we stopped at great locations for admiring the beauty of the different landscapes and photo taking. The music play list was great too. Could not fault anything a 10 out of 10 day and thank you so much Danni for making our day so special. Gail and Paul from Peachland Canada

        DONT DO IT
Our trip from Queenstown to Mt cook was good and our guide was amazing. But our buses abd driver/tour guide changed for the next leg. There were only few stops made for quick toilet breaks as the driver was running late. He detoured thru inland and all we see was cows and sheep. We had a Maori commentator and she kept talking for first couple of hours. The experience was terrible, no value for money and I have requested for refund.

A great day - well organised trip with a breathtaking cruise on Milford Sound
An excellent day - a very good, friendly, informed tour guide / driver (Abi). The transport to Milford Sound was comfortable with plenty of stops on the way and good catering. The cruise on Milford Sound was breathtaking. Highly recommended.

        Great tour to Milford Sound
We had an amazing day trip to Milford Sound. We were a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young kids) and we were together with our friends, another family of 3. We asked to be in the same bus and they accommodated us. Our guide was Sarah, who was wonderful . Pick-up from our hotel (Crowne Plaza in Queenstown) was on time. The mini-bus was full (13 people). Sarah had great stories along the way, and stopped often for photos and bathroom breaks. Once we got to Milford Sound, we walked right up and boarded our boat for a 2 hour magnificent cruise around the Sound. They use Milford Cruise, a smaller cruise company and it is not too crowded, which is great. We were told that they only load up to half of their capacity, to give tourists more space to enjoy. We had lunch on the boat (included in the price of the tour- if I remember correctly it was a sandwich, a bag of chips, a bottle of juice, apple and a cookie; they also provided some small bottles of water, but you should also bring your own) . Then it was back on the bus for the long ride home. Fewer stops, but just enough bathroom stops. We would highly recommend this trip.

        Awesome views of Milford Sound
Wonderfully curated trip to Milford Sound! Lots of small breaks for scenic views and photos! Brian was awesome! They arranged for a smaller boat tour of Milford Sound and then an amazing plane ride over the mountains to get back to Queenstown! Highly recommend!

A friend and I booked and paid for the Mt Cook tour from Queenstown, and flew from Wellington to Queenstown, specifically for this tour. We ended up not going, because the Cheeky Kiwi tour operator left without us, their reason being that we were not in time for our pick-up. This is despite us trying to phone them on the morning and providing Mark from Cheeky Kiwi Travel with CCTV footage evidence from the hotel, and confirmation from the hotel staff that we were in time for our pick-up time slot. When eventually we managed to get a hold of them, they were arrogant and dismissive and made no attempt to resolve the situation. Be very careful when using this tour operator as even though we were within the timelines stipulated on our ticket, they disregarded the facts and we were left stranded.

Unfortunately this guest was not at their pick up location for there pick up time, we’re not in their room and we’re uncontactable because their phone was not active so the guide was force to leave to ensure other guests did not miss their activities. We provided this guest all the evidence to show that we were trying to find them and contact them for 20mins including screenshots of our internal communication, phone records etc. The “CCTV” shows the last time we turned up at the hotel to check 1 last time if they were there. The driver had already been there before and this was well after time time they were meant to be waiting. We take pride that we go out of our way to find guests and hate any guest to be left behide. You will see from all our other reviews that customer service and guest experience is very important to us however this was not a private tour and we will not risk other guests missing their tour or destroying their day because a guest is very late or does not follow the pick up instructions. We are very sorry that this guest miss their tour however pick up rules are there to insure all guests have a quality experience and recommend if you would like different pick up process that a private tour is booked.

Last time I visited New Zealand I attempted a few times to see Mt Cook when it wasn't covered in cloud. This time I booked a small bus tour with Cheeky Kiwi from Queenstown and the weather turned out to be amazing. Our bus driver Reece and Pete mentioned that this was going to be the best day and it was. Along the journey Reece asked us to introduce ourselves, gave us useful information to add to our interests and stopped to allow us to take photos at set stopped. The scenery was beautiful along the way but as we approached Mt Cook without a cloud in the sky and the beautiful azure lake the view was 'jaw dropping'. With 4 hours to explore Mt Cook, I chose to walk the Hoover Valley walk and visit the Mt Cook village. Reece and Pete went out of their way to provide everyone the experience they wished. Thanks to Cheeky Kiwi it was the best day, made even better with our gudes Reece & Pete.

One of the best tours I've done. the guide "Kreig" was full of knowledge and made what would of been a dull bus ride very fun. his camera skills were also on point with the best locations for getting those scenic pictures.

An early morning start from Queenstown led to a lovely day at Mount Cook NP with the charming Rhys. This tour has a lot of driving, hence the early start to cover distance, but Rhys was a friendly and informative guide. A few photos stops before arriving at Mount Cook where we had just over 2.5 hours to explore. We were given several options for walks and Rhys tried to get those who wanted it onto scenic flights and helicopter rides. It was a hot day, and the main walk is incredibly exposed with very little shade. There is actually very little shade anywhere. Sun hats, sunscreen, appropriate clothing and ample water are absolutely necessary. The actual track isn’t that challenging but there are a fair few steps in parts
and suspension bridges and travellers should take that into consideration before booking this tour. It is an absolutely beautiful setting, with Mount Cook and the lake providing picture postcard vistas, but it is a national park with limited amenities. As always in NZ the people who are the guides are what makes a tour something special and Rhys was no exception - a lovely and professional guide.

The most knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide I’ve ever had. Kreig’s passion for New Zealand and happy guests makes this a Don’t miss opportunity. Combine this with the Majestic Mt. Cook, the surrounding peaks and the picturesque drive to get there and you have a 12 hour day of beautiful scenery, excellent facts and history and a new friend. Book this Cheeky Kiwi excursion and enjoy much more than a cool Mountain View.
Skip breakfast, because Kreig is going to bring you to a place with the best savory pies - get the chicken.

We had an absolutely brilliant, once in a lifetime experience on our Mt Cook tour from Queenstown thanks to Cheeky Kiwi and our guide Sinchan. Sinchan was very attentive and took care of our every need throughout the day, while keeping us entertained with his informative and witty commentary. We chose to add on the Heli Grand Circle Scenic Flight and words can’t describe just how magnificent the flight was. Just Magical! We highly recommend this tour as a must do on your itinerary when staying in Queenstown. We must give a big thank you to Sinchan for delivering such an amazing and unforgettable day. Andrew & Joey.

Shane was very informative and friendly! We went on the Mt. Cook tour, but we couldn’t see the mountain or hike because of the rain. However, Shane was quick to think of alternatives places we could go and re-routed us. He was very accommodating and stayed positive despite the bad weather. Thank you shane!

Comments to the tour company: I would recommend that you offer free cancellation/full refund to those who booked walking-centered tours when there is bad weather. They sent the email about the rain after the 24-hour cancellation window had passed.

I booked a last minute trip to Queenstown and was keen to do some day trips to see the surrounding areas.

I hadn’t heard of Cheeky Kiwi tours before but I’m glad I booked with them for the Mt Cook Small Group Tour from Queenstown on 15 Oct 2022.

Our guide Sinchan had wealth of knowledge about the areas we visited. His humorous commentary & the fact that the group was encouraged to get involved plus the spectacular sights of Aoraki Mount Cook and Lake Pukaki made for a great day all round.

Excellent arrangements by Mark and his team. They ensured that each and every guest had a great time. Kreigh was absolutely brilliant throughout the journey. His in depth knowledge of the place and its surroundings kept everyone enthralled. Loved the whole experience and would highly recommend to book this tour for someone who is visiting south Islands. From start to finish the trip was awesome. We hiked up Mt.Cook which really challenged our hiking skills but was spectacular with the rugged cliffs, the snow and mountains all around you.

Lance was awesome, he couldn't be more professional, our safety is his priority plus he took care of every little detail from meals to water on the hikes to making sure everyone was comfortable. How he kept such a great attitude all the time I have no clue, but he sure do!

His vast knowledge of things made our journey interesting and interactive.

The whole experience was fun and memorable.

Surely we do recommend going with cheeky kiwi =)
Looking forward to our Milford tour today with the same company.
