Perfect to relax after a long roadtrip.
A huge assortment of pools offred choice to all kinds of people; old or young. The whole facility appeared clean and well cared for..and the amenities (change rooms+showers+lockers) were superb.

      Will definitely return.
This place is amazing and very reasonably priced, discount for seniors 😀. The pools are so relaxing you can feel or your stress and pains float away. Last time we visited we were surrounded by snowy mountains which made the views even more spectacular. We felt the quality of the pizzas had sadly gone down.

      Enjoyable and interesting therapy
What a wonderful way to relax and feel good. Pick one of the 22 pools to soak in. Day or night you can be comfortable in the thermal waters that seem to immediately create greater wellness. The shower facilities are also clean and functional with eco friendly soaps and lotions provided. On the way out the gift shop sells well priced merchandise to let you take home something to remind you of the baths and how good you felt there

The thermal pools are very relaxing.
The thermal pools are very relaxing with some having whirlpools. There are water slides and a fast water area. Lockers are available for hire. Very easy to spend a few hours there but remember sun protection.

A great activity for all the family
This is a great place for the family with something for everyone. Lovely pizzas from the cafe. Good facilities. The hydro slides are awesome. It was a busy day during the school holidays but it didn’t feel crowded.

      Hmmmm
As a regular visitor to Hanmer Springs we were eager to try out the new 3.3 million dollar slides... what a huge disappointment... we got stuck.. they were no where near as good as the old ones that were there previously. Can't see where all that money was spent.. maybe should have gone to the upkeep of the property... come on Hanmer Springs you can do better.

      Good fun
Lovely pools, friendly staff. Was a bit slow at the tills to pay for entry but not too bad. There was on 2 hydroslides open as they were renovating the other, it wasn’t too busy so we didn’t have to wait in line. Family bathroom could use an update but definitely had an enjoyable time. Looking forward to seeing the new slides next time.

Pros and cons but mostly great !
Pros: - Lots of pools with different temperatures to move between so easy to spend long hours here - Awesome ambiance and vibes, everyone seems to be having a good time - Friendly and awesome staff at the Spa - Relaxing and enjoyable experience - The amenities you get for using The Spa are well worth the cost, it is much better value to have a private pool or massage package then pay just for entry - Pools feel very clean Cons: - Rip off entry price gouging by making everyone pay for hydro slides now - Also rip off pricing by having some pools and hydro slides closed while changing the same entry fee - When it’s raining or cold all of the pools except for the hexagonal ones are not very enjoyable temperature - Long queues on weekends to get in with only 2/3 slow tills which can be painful as large groups of stag do’s and students pay individually to get in - Rude isite/camera staff - Changing rooms feel dated and small and are hard to find room in during the weekend

      Enforce retirement
I'm not really sure why they charge a ridiculous amount with the hydroslide included even though half of them are closed at the moment. The older lady at the information kiosk was probably the single rudest person I've ever met, she advised us that they don't do discounted entry in a condescending tone and then followed it up with the discount is only after our spa treatment or AA membership.. of which we have both. She also decided to do demeaning maths for us, so she really should be at Harvard

      Great hot springs
It's an 1 1/2 hrs drive from Christchurch but so worth it if you like hot pools. Next time I would stay overnight. Plenty of choice of different Temperatures. Good set up with clean changing rooms, good drinking water, Cafe on site.

      Hot pools
They are nice and hot if your like me and go straight to the hottest. Hard to get any time to relax in the pools without strangers surrounding. Still a nice place to visit for a couple hours.

      Best Hotspring in NZ
Out of all the hotspring in NZ, I my opinion, this is the best in terms of cleanliness, safety, size and price. Location: The hotspring is located in Hanmer Spring, about 1.2 - 2 hour from Christchurch. There is no site parking but plenty of free off Street parking. Facilities: Sulfur Pool, Haxagon Pool (for family), Adult Pools, River Pools, Two Slides, Lazy River and private Pools. There is a cafe serving pizza and snack. Male and female toilet with shower facilities. Family change room. There are also paid lockers. Towels and swimsuit can be rented. Lots of lifeguard around. People do take your towel so make sure you use locker.

      A fun experience
Very enjoyable, especially for Europeans unused to natural hot springs. Excellent facilities, though unfortunately two of the slides are closed for maintenance. Not too expensive, though lockers and towels are charged.

Nice enough setting, lots of thermal pool choices with differing temperatures, as well as a cooler large pool, a lazy river, & waterslides are a great idea. Overpriced for what it is, and the catch of leaving and wanting to return on the same day costs extra, lockers cost extra, costing extra for things is a real theme here.

What really let this place down was the lack of action from the lifeguard at the lazy river area who allowed a group of about 6 kids to dive in, bomb, get in the way of babies on the floaters, as well as older people trying to enjoy this area. I was stunned at the lack of action by the lifeguard who did not seem to care about anybodys safety, to the point where I went to reception and asked to speak to a manager. The managers were apparently all at lunch (seriously! who timetables all managers at lunch at the same time?), however the lady did call a senior lifeguard for me to speak to. To his credit, he did agree that the behaviour of that group of kids was not appropriate for that pool. He also actioned my complaint by going down there and speaking directly to the lifeguard on duty. It was nice to see at least one lifeguard take peoples safety seriously. It would be beneficial if Hamner Springs took peoples safety more seriously. Frankly the pools are not deep enough to be diving or bombing in, yet there are no signs to state this, not even a basic sign that states no running around the pools!

Our day was ok, however seeing unruly kids put others at risk with no intervention from lifeguards was incredibly disappointing. I would not bother to go back.

Im sorry but i think this is way over priced, i feel sorry for some families that simply cannot afford to go, as once in the children would have a fab time. With a pool plus discount card it still cost $56 for 2 adults to go for a swim and we didn't get there till 4.15pm and they close at 6.00pm, maybe a discount for the last couple of hours.
    It is lovely and clean

PROS - There are pools at a variety of temperatures to choose from and the views are amazing to look at while you relax. There are plenty of lockers to choose from to store your gear in and you can choose to hire some as well. I like the fast dryer for togs in the changing room

CONS - I feel that the few enclosed changing rooms could do with a door for extra privacy for those people that don't need to use the family changing room but like to have privacy when changing. The entry price seems a bit expensive to get in and it would be nice if the pools were open until 9pm so you can go and enjoy the day before getting in the pool to relax and unwind at the end of the day

This is an excellent all-day family activity. Lots for the kids to do with pools and waterslides. Lovely warm pools of all different sizes and shapes. Everything is clean and well-maintained. Lockers are available for a cost.
It is pricey if you go for just a dip but if you stretch it out over a few hours it is great value for money.

Hanmer Spring hot pools are the best! Price includes the use of new rides, slides and hot pools so pricing has gone up a bit. The lockers are great for keeping your valuables safe while you soak in the pools, just $3 for 2 hours. Plenty of pools to choose from and the bonus is the adult only pools (3 of them) that are full of jets so you can get a jet massage and relax in peace. Pools range in temperatures so satisfies those who love the real hot pools and those who would rather be in the more mid range temp ones, so theres a pool to suit everyone. Heaps of room in the kids pool area for little ones. Cool little lazy river areas. The new rides are pretty awesome too. Great cafe if you want a break for something to eat and drink. We loved the pools so much we went back the next day....3 hours each visit. Wished the pools were open later in the evening. A must visit when in Hanmer!

Had a work retreat at Hanmer Springs and we decided to spend a day at the thermal pools. A decision we are still buzzing about. The hydroslides were brilliant and we couldn't get enough of them. It's was the best thing we could of done for some team bonding. Was well worth getting the poolsplus card for the discount. It was good we could take some food in such as sandwiches etc. I liked the locker system that you could put all your valuables and stuff in while your swimming.

Ive never been keen to come during the school holidays and while I found the changing rooms crowded the pools didnt seem that way. I know they had done renovations but the hot pools remained the same as they were last time I visited. The entrance price is getting on the high side but it was still a nice place to be on a chilly September day.

Very clean and pleasant pools. Something here for the whole family. Costs $35 for single adult entry or $22 if senior. You can get return day entry passes. Also a good cafe on site.

The thermal pools are wonderfully relaxing. There are different temperatures to choose from and the minerals helped ease my itchy bites from sandflies. There are also slides and standard pools for children and the young at heart. A great way to spend az couple of hours.

This is our second visit in the last few years, and I still recommend Hanmer Springs as an essential place to visit.
In summer, the queues were very short to none, so we rode all the slides many times. Pool temperature was good, with a wide range to suit your mood.
Staff friendly and professional, the grounds were clean and well maintained.
The reason that this review isn't 5 stars is due to the new slides. The flashes and lights don't make up for the fact they are slow and pretty dull - nowhere near as good as the old slides.

Thank you for the review. We are sorry you felt that the slides were not your cup of tea. We have has some really good feedback for both Waiau Winder and Violet Vortex. A trick to gain speed is to keep as few points of the body in contact the the slide as possible.
