What to expect
After pickup from your hotel, transfer to Aoraki Mount Cook Airport to meet your pilot. Get seated in the retractable ski aircraft and receive a safety briefing from your pilot, then don the provided radio headset so that you can hear the pilot's informative commentary during your flight. As your plane lifts off, take in sweeping views of the towering Southern Alps. Cross over the Main Divide to the West Coast where you see the majestic Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers. Continue north along the Tasman Sea before recrossing the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps to the Tasman Glacier. Soar over Aoraki Mount Cook National Park and through the Tasman Valley to the Grand Plateau and the Hochstetter Icefall. Pass the east face of Aoraki Mt Cook before descending over the Tasman Terminal Lake. During the two glacier snow landings, your aircraft completely shuts down, which gives you the chance to experience the quiet solitude of this alpine environment. Your tour ends with return to the airport and transfer back to your hotel.

Fanastic experience, absolute must do
Feb 2021
There is no scenic flight in New Zealand which matches the awesomeness of the flight around the glaciers including landing on a glacier. If you were to choose one scenic flight to do in New Zealand, this is the one. Make sure you put it high on your bucket list as you won't regret it.

The staff are very friendly, helpful, skilful and knowledgeable.

The experience takes you so close to the Southern Alps; in particular Aoraki Mount Cook itself. You feel as though you could reach out and touch it. The manouevrability of the Pilatus PC-6 is amazing. The magic happens when you land on the glacier in a plane - the landing is so smooth you don't even know you've touched down - the only way of knowing you've touched down on the glacier is by looking at the snow/ice spray from the skis. Whichever glacier you end up landing on, it will be extraordinary experience. Paying a little extra for a view of the West Coast glaciers and the chance of landing on the Fox or Franz Josef Glaciers if conditions are suitable is worth it in my view.

Even if it's overcast (if the cloud ceiling is above the mountains), it'll be worth it.

Don't forget your sunglasses and even sunscreen as the glacier reflects everything back onto you from all angles.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat, no doubt about it.

Best activity of our whole tour of NZ - #1 without doubt
Jan 2020
Absolutely the best thing we did on the whole trip of both islands in NZ - without doubt! As we had to get to Christchurch by 3pm we just booked the shortest helicopter flight (Tasman Glacier only) from the activity centre at the Hermitage Hotel in Mt Cook. We were told on arrival at the airport we couldn't go until lunchtime as they needed another couple. We explained we had to be flying nowish then away so after a brief conflab they upgraded us to a plane which did the whole mountains & glaciers circuit AND landed on the Tasman Glacier itself - in other words the cheapest/shortest flight w/o landing to the longest with landing! Btw the views were stunning, the walking about in shorts & T-shirts on a glacier was surreal and the Aussie pilot a fun & knowledgeable guide. THANK YOU SO MUCH to INFLITE! Don't leave Aoraki/Mt Cook w/o doing a flight - any flight!

Mt Cook Experience
Aug 2020
This experience was absolutely magical. Weaving our way up and around the glaciers onto the West coast with a landing high up on Fox Glacier. Stunning views, exceptional customer service. Highly recommend a visit and an experience on any of there flights. Mt Cook Ski Planes and Heli's happily catered for our team of 35-40 members of the Canterbury Aero Club across many of their flight experiences making it a highly enjoyable and unforgettable memory.

Absolutely blown away!!!
Mar 2020
I was absolutely BLOWN away by the views and the scenery this flights covered. From the Mt. Cook Village over to the west coast soaring over the Fox and Franz Joseph glacier I was speechless!!! The views were great and everyone who was apart of the experience made it all that much better as I was always greeted with a smile. Pete the pilatus porter plane pilot panned picturesque panoramic places.
So far my favorite experience in New Zealand, definitely a must do, must see!!!!!!!

If your budget allows, highly recommend
Amazing life time experience! Before booking this, I have searched a lot and so glad to make this. Here are a couple of things that I wanted to know before my bookings.

- 55min grand circle vs 45min ultimate alpine:
I did 55 min the grand circle which covers both Mt cook and Franz Josef. It was great to have lots of time to see in the sky, but I guess covering Mt cook would be enough. It is difficult to listen pilot's explanation due to engine noise, so not easy to recognize where I am.

- Flight company : There are other companies with a little bit of cheaper price. I booked this company because of snow landing and it was perfect choice. It was definitely worthy to try. Landing time was around 10min and I've got plenty of good photos.

- Discount : I have booked via bookme website which offers cheaper price depending on the booking date.

- Service : My concern was cancellation after reading some reviews. Luckily, the weather in my flight day was so good (even hot) without worrying for cancellation. All staff and pilot were so kind and nice.

If your budget allows, highly recommend.

Breathtaking experience and sight seeing tour
Apr 2018 • Couples
I was privileged to be able to take the tour in a fantastic aircraft designed for the Swiss Alps and perfect for the task. Landing on the snow and then flying through the valleys and around the mountain tops was an experience I will never forget. Being a 16,000 hour pilot and Aircraft Engineer myself, I can only rate the pilot and the company as first class and very professional. A tour I would recommend to anyone and definitely a bucket list item in one"s life.

A tale of two flights
May 2017 • Couples
May 2017 We had a few attempts to get up in the air. As we were driving up the highway from Twizel, Aoraki Mt Cook sat front and centre in our windscreen, but by the time we arrived in the village the weather was closing in. That was Tuesday, 9 May and we planned on spending a few days hiking in the valley and on the glacier, and a Grand Circle ski plane tour. Obviously all this was at the mercy of the weather gods. And that is the key thing ... allow extra days for adverse weather and I'm sure you will be blessed with a chance of good weather to see the Alps in all their glory.

During our days in Aoraki Mt Cook we were at the airport several times and the guys at Inflite Mt Cook Ski Planes were fabulous, always so helpful and accommodating. Big thanks to Shota and Josh for taking such great care of us.

On Wednesday, 10 May there was a small break in the weather so we headed to the airport hoping for a ski plane flight doing the Grand Circle. Too risky for the planes so we were offered a shorter helicopter flight which we took in case that was our only chance to get up there. We were able to get to the top of Tasman Glacier and landed below Centennial Hut, but within minutes we had to get out in a hurry as the weather started to close in again. Our pilot was great. He knew my husband was keen to see some of the peaks and huts he had spent time in and around back in 1982 and was able to tailor the flight as best he could with the cloud cover, which was so much appreciated. The flight took us up the valley over Tasman Glacier and on the return we hopped over a saddle to the west side of Aoraki Mt Cook. The helicopter brings you closer to the landforms but your view also depends on where you are seated in the chopper. We weren't charged for our flight until we returned so that they could take into account the flight time as they were unsure of what the weather might do. Excellent customer service. If time and weather are issues then the heli flights are ideal. BUT if you can, do the Grand Circle with 2 landings in the ski plane.

We waited out the weather a couple of more days and after an aborted attempt on Friday, 12 May to do a Glacier Hike with Southern Alps Guides, we woke to the most perfect of days on Saturday, 13 May. Separate post on our brilliant time on the ice with Ant from Southern Alps Guides on Saturday.

With hardly a breath of wind, no clouds, and having had the most amazing time on the glacier hike we just had to get up in the air again. This time we were able to do the full Grand Circle over to the West Coast, landed on top of Franz Josef Glacier, hopped across to land on top of Tasman Glacier and back to the airport about 70 mins in total in flight and on the glaciers. The plane makes a gradual climb until you are at an altitude where the views of the Alps stretch away in every direction. Vast and stunning! The landing on the snow is an experience in itself and so much fun. There was no one else around and you felt every bit of the silence and immensity of the surrounds walking around on top of Franz Josef Glacier. No other footsteps to be seen. We circled the peaks some more and landed on Tasman Glacier to walk again on sparkling icing. Thank you to our fabulous Pilot Pete for a brilliant flight. This is an experience to remember and should not be missed.
