Overview
Explore the Laguna Grande, a bioluminescent bay, via kayak with a marine biologist as your tour guide. Learn the unique conditions required to create the glowing waters and what’s needed to protect this special ecosystem. The tour, which leaves from Fajardo, guides you through mangrove forests to the lagoon and includes all equipment.
What to Expect

Arrive at Parque La Juventud in Fajardo about 20 minutes before your scheduled evening tour time to receive a kayak safety briefing.

Start your journey kayaking through the mangrove forests on your way towards the lagoon. This should be a 20 to 30 minute journey, depending on the tides and skill levels of your group.

Once at the lagoon, your marine biologist tour guide explains the science behind the bioluminescent phenomena. Enjoy a brief kayak around the lagoon at your leisure before heading back to the starting point with your group to disembark.

A dark night and 20+ people wading to kayaks; rough water at first, then paddling through a canal with overhanging mangroves we couldn't see, a brief lesson on local ecology, free time in the bio-luminescent bay, back through the dark canal and back through rough...More
