About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Helen W0 contributionsYosemite trip with Lasting AdventuresWe’ve just returned from a three day Yosemite trip with Lasting Adventures, for a group of five adults. Plenty of hiking and outdoor activities in good and not so good weather (luckily, with the right clothing), ably facilitated by our excellent guide Kara, who has many years experience with Lasting Adventures. She was knowledgeable, organised, and great fun. We originally wanted to do a multi day snow shoe trip, but unfortunately the snow was insufficient to allow this, so an alternative program was put in place at short notice. Lasting Adventures is a NFP and via their scholarship program is able to provide access to outdoor adventures to children who may otherwise not be able to participate in such activities, so it’s great to know that our trip is able to support bringing the benefits of immersion in nature to the next generation.Written 6 January 2025
- Steven S0 contributions4 day Yosemite wilderness backpacking trip with Half Dome summitI just completed a 4 day Yosemite wilderness backpacking trip with a summit of Half Dome via the infamous cables. Thanks to the professional staff at Wilderness Adventures and my amazing guide, John, I would consider this among my favorite " trips of a lifetime". Having summited Kili and completed the Everest Base Camp trek, this is quite a compliment. A lot of the credit goes to my guide, John. He did everything he could to make our trek as memorable as possible, from helping us pack our heavy backpacks, setting up our camp including our tents, cooking us a hot meal at night, making sure our water bottles were always filled with filtered water from the river to planning a sunset hot dinner with secret desert on the summit of Half Dome. He also made the hours hiking and climbing pass more quickly with his wealth of information about Yosemite Valley, its flora and fauna, and the characters who have inhabited it in the past and present. There was not a single question that he could not answer thoroughly and entertainingly. An added benefit, he is a big wall rock climber! He shared many interesting stories about the history of the community and technical climbing. Also felt much more confident in his ability to get us up and down Half Dome. So if you are looking to add Half Dome to your bucket list, l highly recommend Lasting Adventures and John, my guide.Written 21 October 2024
- amandazammit0 contributionsThe best private hiking guide! My husband and I had a private day hiking tour with Eric. We did the 4 mile trial, panorama trail and mist trail and had the most incredible day. From the very first meeting with Eric on the day of starting our hike we knew we were in for a great day! Any question we had about Yosemite, Eric could answer!! And he filled the day with lots of fun facts and information about all kinds of things within the park. He was also great at just knowing when to let us enjoy the moment and take it in, but could also fill in the day with fun conversation too. We would never have learnt so much, or seen as much as we did in the day without him. Would absolutely recommend Eric and lasting adventures to anyone looking for a guide within Yosemite.Written 16 October 2024
- jeannieh5060 contributionsEpic Backpack TripWe did the Cathedral Lakes/Clouds Rest/Half Dome trip, 5day/4night. It’s hard to find the words to describe the experience. Our guide was great and really knew his stuff. He supported us with all our needs including food and stress. The views from our travels were spectacular and breathtaking. His timing of our trek up Half Dome gave us an uncrowded and special experience. Dinner atop Half Dome was perfect. I would highly recommend Lasting Adventures especially for novice backpackers.Written 14 October 2024
- TDY-8050 contributionsSummiting Half Dome with Lasting AdventuresWe started with lunch at Glacier Point to take in the views of where we'd be going over the next 3 days/2 nights, then started our backpacking trip at Mono Meadows, ultimately making it to Half Dome, then down the JMT to Curry Village - about 21 miles total. The trip was incredible and an experience we will all remember forever – what an achievement it felt like to backpack all that way seeing Half Dome from every angle, then ultimately getting to summit it! Our Lasting Adventure guides were fantastic from the amazing geological knowledge they provided along the way, educating us on what we were seeing and trying to figure out how Half Dome was formed until the very end, to the delicious dinners they prepared at camp. They made sure we had everything we needed as we packed our backpacks upon arrival on the first morning, and clearly kept our safety in mind as well as ensuring we all did things as they should be done in the backcountry (leave no trace). I highly recommend going on a guided trip with this organization and would do it again myself in a heartbeat.Written 11 October 2024
- karenbG8035ZS0 contributionsEpic Half Dome AdventureDyson and John, our guides with Lasting Adventures were top notch. We did a 4 Day backpacking trip from Glacier Point to Half Dome. The experience, knowledge, skills, and motivation they portrayed during our trip, made us have an epic adventure. Fortunately, we were all (ages 54-64) able to summit Half Dome, which was a bucket list for all of us. Oh and their cooking was DELICIOUS. I never thought I would be eating tofu curry in the middle of the woods in Yosemite. I would highly recommend a guided tour with Lasting Adventures. It truly was a magnificent trip!Written 19 September 2024
- Odyssey634791661100 contributionsExperience Yosemite with fabulous guideIn August 2024, our group of four adults greatly enjoyed the 6 day custom itinerary backcountry trip in Yosemite's high Sierras, led by Lasting Adventures. (A side note: Since 1997, non-profit organization Lasting Adventures has been leading young people on backpacking wilderness trips without cell phones, challenging them and providing support/encouragement along the way.) Some of us were first time backcountry through hikers, so we really appreciated having a fabulous/friendly/knowledgeable guide with decades of experience in Yosemite. The hikes were challenging (in a good way) and the places we got to see were truly awe inspiring. From gorgeous mountains, to crystal clear lakes to cascading waterfalls complete with rainbows - the scenery made us so happy that our phones had no connectivity. Our photos cannot fully convey the beauty of the landscapes, and the inner peace that grew the longer we were disconnected from our typical busy lives. For our group, the Lasting Adventures trip was like hitting a "reset" button - so when we got home again, we were better able to enjoy and appreciate much that we'd previously overlooked or taken for granted. Also, I'd be remiss if I failed to mention how great the food was on this trip - everyone especially loved the fajitas!Written 16 September 2024
- ter9100 contributionsAwesome Half Dome AdventureThe entire experience was first class and outstanding! Our guides were Ella and Dyson - two remarkably professional, capable and knowledgeable guides. Not to mention just quality human beings. They live and shared the “leave no trace” philosophy. They shared their experience, park history and were supportive to all in our wide range of hikers. Not to mention their incredible back country cooking and meal prep skills. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks were tasty and plentiful. Summiting Half Dome and watching the sunset from the top was a special treat - as were the homemade donuts in the backcountry! Lasting Adventures provides quality gear for anything you don’t bring. I highly recommend this adventure with Lasting Adventures - be sure and ask for Ella and Dyson.Written 11 September 2024
- U253GMmaryr0 contributionsGET THE TRAVEL INSURANCE!I was so excited for this trip, have been backpacking for years and ready to take on Half Dome (bucket list trip). They tell you in every correspondence to get travel insurance, DO IT! I didn't, ended up with a bulging disc the week before and couldn't go on the trip due to the 50lb backpack weight requirement. My friends had the best time and loved it. I lost $1800. GET INSURANCE!!!!!!!Written 7 September 2024

- emilysQ4884BJ0 contributionsTremendous Tour Experience!I have been to Yosemite as a kid and adult, and returned this summer to bring my wife and our 6 & 9 year old sons. We elected to hire a guide to make sure we saw as much of the valley as possible while keeping our young kids interested in the journey. Best decision we could have made. Will from Lasting Adventures was a wealth of knowledge on the parks history, plants, trees, wildlife, hidden gems and so much more. We walked away feeling like the value was incredible and both boys want to go back, and bring Will and his family with us!Written 26 August 2024

John, our guide made the experience even better and ensured we had the best day possible. He was very knowledgeable and accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure the group was comfortable and overall had the energy you’d want on a hike like this one. 100% recommendWritten 25 August 2024

- Kelly E0 contributionsFantastic hike up Yosemite Falls, Highly recommend Nick Lange as a guide.Nick Lange was a great guide. He gave us lots of good advice in preparation and entertained us with stories to keep our mind off the grind up the switchbacks. He has a great passion for the area and enjoys sharing that with his charges (young & old).Written 23 August 2024
- 298cecilea0 contributionsUnforgettable day with Guide Jack from Lasting AdventuresWe had the pleasure of being guided by Jack on our visit of Yosemite. We thoroughly appreciated his knowledge on the nature, geology and history of the natural park. Jack was insightful in sharing the culture of the climbing community he is a part of and kind enough to demonstrate all of his material and equipment. He took the time to ensure our expectations where reasonably met, allowing us to make the most of our day in Yosemite. We proudly recommend Jack as a tour guide for families looking to spend an unforgettable day at Yosemite Natural Park.Written 18 August 2024

When you get here, you are pretty much away from the main area of hiking. We arrived early for snow shoeing. The trail for snow shoeing is to the left of the chair lifts. The snow condition was sparse but we managed to get a workout. From the bottom of the lift to the top is a little over a mile where you can see the first glimpse of the valley. Then you can continue and circle the trail and end up below on the right side of the chair lifts. Here, they have lodge to get food but very limited selection. After lunch, it snowed for a bit and we got to touch and feel the snow. It was a very exhilarating day after the snow shoeing.

We were a high school group doing the snowshoeing adventure from Badger Pass to Dewey Point. Lasting adventures was great to work with Highlights of working with this company were how knowledgeable the guides were of Yosemite (e.g. being familiar with the trails, knowing the names of peaks, suggestions of hikes to do, etc.). They were also very organized with the gear and meals they provided, as well as the activities they had planned for our group. The guides were also very friendly with our students and took a genuine interest in getting to know them. They were professional and cooperative in working with us adults too. Lastly, the preparation leading up the trip (e.g. going through med forms, communicating packing lists, etc.) was very well done.

Fantastic multi-day snowshoeing backpacking adventure, my third time with LA. Yosemite in winter is utterly amazing. Thank you to Scott for making it happen, in a narrow window of opportunity given the winter weather of 2023. Kara was an incredible guide - great knowledge and insights on Yosemite, route selection suited to preferences, wonderful food (more cookies, please!), and all-around fun. Highly recommend LA!!

Hi. Is there a minimum of people? I am wanting to take this tour. When I add 1 person it charges $450, should it be $250?
