Itinerary

Make your way to the Newport visitor center, where you’ll board a trolley for a tour through the heart of the city. The tour begins with the colonial-era sights in the Newport Historic District, and then continues along Bellevue Avenue, which is lined with the city’s most famous mansions.

Here and throughout the tour, the guide will share historic facts and stories that help bring the city to life, pointing out the best places to see and explore.

Wind out of the city center on Ocean Drive, following the scenic coastline of Aquidneck Island, passing historic Fort Adams, and getting a glimpse of elegant seaside inns.

After taking in the town, step into Newport’s “Gilded Age” on a 1.5-hour tour of The Breakers, a beautifully restored mansion that was once the Vanderbilt family's summer home. This approximately 3-hour tour concludes at the original departure point.

Sorry, no restroom on the trolley. The visitor center where the trolley starts does have a nice restroom as does every mansion.

The white trolley was the only one from this company. At the Visitor’s Center, they will tell you exactly where to wait for it.
