      Finding Lupita
We so enjoyed discovering and rediscovering the Lupitas with Gustavo. His tour was as warm and insightful as it was well-informed. We are recommending it to friends who want to see beyond the usual tourist stops.

This tour was a real treat. Gustavo, warm and highly knowledgeable, takes you to various depictions of Lupita de Guadalupe around town. The tour focuses on the Virgin but functions as an effective entry point in the various fascinating histories — colonial, indigenous, and religious — that converge in Santa Fe. Those interested in social justice will especially appreciate the tour; through Lupita I learned about ongoing struggles in the area, and the individuals fighting for change. Highly recommended!

Dear Asa, Glad you were able to join us during your short stay in Santa Fe. I was delighted to show you around and share some of the local history, including some facts that don’t make it to the official books. I am happy that you appreciated the lens through which we present Lupita’s first-row seat account to the history of our beautiful and complex region. Un abrazo y muchas graxias for this kind review. Best, Gustavo MC

My sister and I greatly enjoyed walking with him through the Guadalupe neighborhood and experiencing the beautiful depictions of Lupita up close. In addition, we gained an insightful appreciation for the many ways She is woven into the culture of Santa Fe and beyond.

Gustavo is a wonderful tour guide. He has thoroughly researched all of the Guadalupe art on the walk. It’s a great way to connect to the city through the many beautiful representations of this cultural icon. Highly recommend! I also advise stopping by the farmers market first, and walking with a coffee and a pastry.

Gustavo led an amazing tour that got to the heart of part of the culture of Santa Fe. This is a thoroughly researched tour that led us through historic neighborhoods, magnified Lupita art that one might miss if not paying close attention, and brought a loving sense of community. As a person who is newer to Santa Fe, I appreciated meeting new people and this art history tour was the cherry on top!

This was the best tour I have taken in Santa Fe. We saw and experienced the real Santa Fe, its culture and history. Gustavo was so so knowledgeable of the culture of old Santa Fe and he blended modern and ancient times in a way that was easy to follow the evolution of this beautiful city and her strong ties to Lupita. We learned the ancient Native history, so fascinating. Ending with an experience of the fabulous muralist of Santa Fe, Carlos Cervantes and his life and work. This is history that has not been written about and you cannot find it in one place in books. Highly enjoyable for history minded folk and recommended.

Our tour with Gustavo was a significant part of my first visit to New Mexico. I knew very little of Our Lady of Guadalupe prior to our tour, and left with so much - as other tour participants have commented, Gustavo is an extremely knowledgable and engaging leader. As a Canadian, I was particularly saddened to learn that families in this community are searching for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, much like too many Indigenous family members in Canada search for and hope for the return of their missing family members, and grieve the loss of those who will not return. I look forward to hearing of Gustavo's future ventures, and wish him continued success.

Dear Cheryl, Thank you for this kind review. My time with you and your family was very special. I’m grateful for the connection we were able to establish and feel glad that the story of MMIP we talked about resonated with you. Apart from being a way to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of Santa Fe, the tour is meant to be an experience in which all who participate take away something. In my case, it was great to learn from you about The Magnificat. Until next time. Thanks for visiting us and for your lovely words about our time together.
