About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- AllaI10 contributionsInformative and funVictor's tour was an excellent dive into our Santa Fe trip. Victor is knowledgeable, passionate and fun. He clearly loves his home state and proud of his heritage. We did an evening tour, and it rained, but Victor easily pivoted and made our tour worthwhile. His stories are fascinating, we kept referring back to them for the duration of our Santa Fe stay. Highly recommend Victor's tour, and get his app! Thank you for your time and all the tips, Victor!!!Written 25 September 2024

- 571sallyr0 contributionsGreat drinks, but plan ahead! The drinks were great, the different locations were awesome, and the stories were pretty good! Wish I had read the description more closely as I was a little surprised that we ended the tour about a mile from where we started...which doesn't sound terrible except for the fact that we were in an unfamiliar city and most of our group was pretty drunk after all the "spirits". We had to call an uber to get back to our car! If you take this tour, plan ahead!Written 6 March 2023
- nicolemV836QG0 contributionsHad a great nightGreat Cocktails and great stories! Victor truly has a passion for what he does and was an awesome guide!Written 13 February 2023
- Jeri77770 contributionsPoor communicationWe actually had to cancel several hours before the tour started because of illness, but never got ANY response from the tour operator about any amount of refund due to unforeseen circumstances. The tour highlights some great places in Santa Fe and we can’t wait to come back and explore all the cool places he referred! We would definitely book another tour with him. We were also lucky to have such a wonderful group to experience all of it with! The only suggestion would be to have some type of service to get you back to your starting point at the end of the night.Written 24 September 2022

Victor was GREAT! My husband, parents, and I met him for a two hour private evening history tour of Santa Fe and were immediately impressed by his passion for sharing local history. Within the first five minutes, we were also impressed by his knowledge and his professionalism. Not only was his presentation articulate, but it was also well organized, interesting, and relevant, and he was open to questions, which were answered expertly. In addition, we appreciated his kind attention to accommodating my mother, who is suffering from a back injury and needed occasional rests (why we booked the private tour). Victor left us knowing a lot more than we did before about a city he clearly loves, and he even helped us plan our next day’s adventure to Bandalier and Los Alamos, offering suggestions for our day that worked out perfectly. He truly went above and beyond!
If you are in the Santa Fe area and you’d like to spend a little time with a native, I would absolutely recommend a tour with Victor.

My husband and I took the 9:00 a.m. walking tour with guide, Victor Romero on Thursday, July 15th. What a pleasure he was; we absolutely loved the tour. We left the Plaza which dates back to the early 17th century when Santa Fe was settled by conquistadors. Immediately, Victor was like a walking history book. His enthusiasm was evident in the love he has for Santa Fe and all that it stands for. He told us everything under the sun about the rich and complex cultural history of Santa Fe, from the early, early beginning until present. What is remarkable is the fact that most of the historic area of the city is completely walkable. This tour Victor takes you on showing you and telling you about the wonderful museums, aspects of shopping with the local Native Americans selling their own creations, to the oldest home and oldest church in America as Santa Fe is the oldest capital city in the continent, is credibly a fantastic walking tour. I could go on and on about all the sights we saw and were told about by Victor, but this would take pages and pages. In all, we highly recommend VIP Tours and Victor Romero as your tour guide.

Victor was a wonderful tour guide! His passion, humor, and pride in his city made the tour engaging and fun. His storytelling created a beautiful image of the history and architecture he was telling us about. He had wonderful restaurant and shopping recommendations, and I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Santa Fe or looking for a great way to spend your morning!!

Victor is an outstanding guide to this historic city! His knowledge of and anecdotes about the events, venues, and famous (as well as infamous) personalities that contributed to Santa Fe's history helped make our trip here special. Although we had bopped around on our own for a few days before the tour, and visited a few of the spots that Victor took us to, his explanations and stories made us take a closer look, and we came away with a deeper appreciation for the sights. If you have a few days to spend in this city, we believe that investing a few hours to take Victor's tour will leave you more lasting memories of Santa Fe than a silver or turquoise souvenir.

I have thought long before writing this. I loved listening to most stories and was throughly entertained by the WW2 connections and history. But my heart aches for our guide. He is so very lost that I ended up in tears. Mocking priests just doesn’t sit right with me—Our guide made those who lured the priests from their homes by setting the church on fire and killing them as they rushed to save their churches the heroes of the story. Then in front of the Loretto chapel he loudly mocked the nuns who prayed and asked people around us -pilgrims-to be quiet so he could shout about the pedo priests legal bills and offend all in earshot. I hate pedos but I was ashamed to be part of the tour. I cried as we observed the miraculous staircase with someone who mocked those who God chose to honor. I wanted to explain to him God is good—man is not. So priests and nuns fail. That’s why we have need of a Savior. I don’t blame our guide - he’s a sinner like me. I am grieved so many others accept this as ok. I know this is no longer common thought in our nation but it still truth and I had to say it. I love our guide but I hate the lies he believes.

đź‘Ť. Clearly you heard what you wanted to hear. Never, in my stories did I talk about people luring priest out to kill them, the natives lured the Spanish people out of their homes to kick them out of the state and yes the native people killed all the priest because of the repression and enslavement of the native people. History, has shown us that the Catholic Church has done some unChristlike things in its history to maintain power. This was by no means an attack on you. But maybe you should have this conversation with me privately instead of a review of a tour!
Maybe you would learn of my experience and that of other young men who’ve been abused by members of that institution!

This was one of the most important experiences of our vacation to Santa Fe. Victor, our guide, gave us a two hour tour describing the history and landmarks of the city. It was fun and educational. All the guests of the tour fell captivated by the stories at all times and two hours went by like two minutes. In addition the guide made recommendations for restaurants and other fun places to go! Overall we are very happy we took this tour.

A wonderful walking tour. Victor was entertaining and informative. He's an excellent storyteller weaving the history of Santa Fe landmarks with celebrities who lived or passed through the city. Really liked the reverence he had for all of the founders of Santa Fe: the Spanish, Mexicans, and Native Americans. Lots of fun and would highly recommend!

Victor is so knowledgeable about any and everything related to Santa Fe! My husband and I left with such an appreciation of the city and so many unique stories that a generic tour could have never given us. He’s a great storyteller and hit on everything from pop culture to honoring the indigenous people of the area. Best part of our weekend!

I'd been to Santa Fe a half dozen times and this was my first tour. It was really interesting and engaging. We covered a lot of territory (historic and geographic) in just 3 hours of walking and Victor, our guide, was knowledgable and fun. Highly recommend this tour if you want to get just below the surface of Santa Fe and gain an appreciation for how it became the place it is today. It makes me appreciate more deeply and recognize the many wonders of this beautiful spot.

Hello! I'm interested in this tour but wondering if kids are able to attend?
Written 1 January 2022
I would suggest asking the guide about that. Probably depends on age.
Written 3 January 2022
Is the walking tour dog friendly (dog is 13 lbs)?
Written 29 November 2021
Yes! There are a couple parts where you may need to leave the dog tied up outside if you want to go take a peek inside a historic church but most of the tour is outside of buildings.
