About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- JeffB47060 contributionsExcellent start to a more enriching stay in Santa Fe. We learned a lot.We two did the tour on the first morning after we arrived in Santa Fe. We are glad we did, because Ana provided a great introduction to the city that enriched our Santa Fe visit. Her explanation provided us a grasp of Santa Fe's history within the context of Spanish America, Mexico, and the United States. We gained other valuable information as well, including about the rotating Native American artisan merchants who operate in a designated area of Santa Fe Plaza. This tour, which we purchased directly from Ana on her website, was a great value.Written 24 July 2024
- RickBrosseau0 contributionsOnly if you really want to know the incredible history of Santa Fe and the surrounding area...We had always wanted to visit Santa Fe and after 40 years...Finally got around to doing it! Ana's tour was the first thing my wife and I did on our first (of 4) days, and we have commented over & over to each other that we were SO glad we chose to do that! Incredibly knowledgeable with a vibrant delivery, we could have easily spent another couple of hours getting to know more about the "City Different". We've actually taken a variety of tours in our travels over the last 4 decades but I can tell you without hesitation that Ana's was the best one we'd ever been on! (Second place? The "Sound of Music" Tour in Salzburg...) Thanks again for a very fun & educational day, Ana! Sincerely...Rick B, St. George UTWritten 8 July 2024
- gloriappangman0 contributionsA great historical tour of SantaFeI would highly recommend Ana’s walking tour. It is an easy walk for everyone, young and old with breaks along the way. Ana knows the history of Santa Fe well and I learned so much . She has also written several books if you care to explore further. She is personable and knowledgeable and her love of Santa Fe is evident. It is a town rich with history and she gives a great overview. This is THE walking tour to take. Thank you Ana for sharing your love of Santa Fe!Written 10 November 2023

- danielmD5335TB0 contributionsThe Best Private Tour of Santa FeAna is not just an experienced historian, but also a fascinating storyteller. We learned so much about her home town of Santa Fe, it's history and architecture, and a lot of surprising facts about the connection to Igor Stravinsky and Ben Hur - I'm not going to spoil it. But just as important, she was very thoughtful of my mother who turned 90 during our visit and has limited mobility and heat tolerance, and was able to adjust the tour so we could all enjoy it. She has also authored a number of books available on her website and you get one if you arrange a private tour. I think we may need to get a couple more. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone coming to Santa Fe.Written 22 July 2023
- CaliforniaTraveler370 contributionsWalking Tour of Santa Fe HistoryI made a plan with Ana Pacheco, a former historian for the city of Santa Fe, a native, the author of several books, and, most important, a well-organized businesswoman and clear speaker. We were part of a group of six on a walking tour of about two hours. Our reservation was for two at a reasonable per person rate, and we were joined by four others. I especially appreciated Ana's humanism in understanding the city's historical development. This was definitely one of the best walking tours I have ever taken, and there have been plenty.Written 9 May 2023

A very informative and engaging tour. Ana is an excellent guide as a Santa Fe local with deep knowledge of the history of the city and New Mexico and plenty of funny stories of growing up in pre-gentrified Santa Fe. She also has great recommendations about where to eat and what to see so I recommend taking her tour at the start of your trip.

Santa Fe revisited was a wonderful introduction to Santa Fe. It is a "serious" history tour, meaning the guide has a great knowledge of SF history and great enthusiasm for sharing it with visitors. But no boring history lectures here! Ana's presentation is interesting, and full of humor and human interest. Her talk included mention of a connection between SF and almost every states that the members of our tour came from. She had historical photos of many of the tours sites and discussed the way the architecture and uses of locations have changed over time. My wife and I are big fans of taking walking tours of the places we visit and Santa Fe Revisited is one of the best.

Thanks so much Ana for taking my family on the historical walking tour of Santa Fe. Ana was simply wonderful - so prepared with a satchel to illustrate the history and what ended up being a 2 hour jam-packed knowledge bath. You see statues and Ana makes sense of their meaning and the history behind the monuments, street names and buildings. Ana takes you all the way back to the 1600s and you go with her up to today's Santa Fe. I have done a lot of walking tours, and this has to be one of the best ever. Highly recommend.

We always take guided walking tours when we travel and I used to be a tour guide myself, so when I tell you this was one of the best we’ve ever experienced, it’s high praise. Ana, our guide, has written multiple books on Santa Fe history and she was fascinating. I am NOT a history buff whatsoever, but Ana was so dynamic and passionate that I was completely sucked in.
She suggested reading Willa Cather’s “Death Comes For the Archbishop,” which my husband read while on the trip and said he wished he read it prior to coming. We hadn’t planned to visit Los Alamos, but after taking Ana’s tour, we revised our itinerary to go there and I’m so glad we did.
I learned so much that was interesting not just about Santa Fe history, but US history. She told us we’d learn how important New Mexico’s history was and she wasn’t kidding.
If you visit Santa Fe, this tour is an absolute must.

I take history tours wherever I travel, and Ana Pacheco's tour of Santa Fe is the best of the many great ones I've experienced. She's a professional historian, her family in Santa Fe goes back 300 years, and the depth and breadth of her knowledge is extraordinary. She is also an usually gifted communicator -- tremendously energetic, entertaining, funny and quite riveting. Take this tour!

Ana was an excellent guide in every way. She was very knowledgeable and presented the history of her native city in a very interesting way. She covered centuries of history in a way that we could understand, and presented facts clearly. She has authored a number of books on the past of Santa Fe. Highly recommend!

What a great experience of both seeing the significant sites, but also the history of the particular area being visited. We felt we were Ana's personal guests on the tour and were treated like a friend.
You can tell her knowledge of Santa Fe is from her living there, providing tidbits that only a local would be able to share. Her tour provided great photographs of the exact spot we were at, but from a much earlier time.
Her commentary was a matter of speaking with us and not talking to us. The presentation was at a leisurely pace which made the tour very enjoyable.

Ana was marvelous! She is local person with extensive historical knowledge. Rather than reciting dates and facts she puts everything into context in time and place. Terrific! Could have spent the whole day

Hi I would like to know what the total price is for 2 people. 2 different prices listed. What is the total walking distance? Flat and level ground?
Written 16 August 2022
Our group is 6 people. So the price is $80 per person?
Will there be more people joining us?
Thank you,
Cynthia Shaw
Written 8 June 2022
Hi,
The fee is for a group, up to 4 people. My group has 2 people.
Will another group possibly joining us? Or is the tour for one group at a time?
