We were booked on the first flight of the day ,and cloud hadn’t quite lifted. But our excellent pilot got us up,over the glacier for a great view,Wonderful experience even though we could not land on the glacier that day. We weren't sure why but took the earlier time. They seemed to live up to their glacier name with a frosty welcome perhaps they were having a bad day but firing out instructions like "take your scarf off" and " it is summer you know" were not particularly helpful and it was a little chilly on landing. Overall thought it was a great experience and Mike was a diligent and informative pilot making us feel safe at all times. Can't rate this company highly enough. It can't be easy running a company that is so weather dependent, but this family run company certainly try their best to give everyone a good experience. They could see the cloud cover was going to mean no flights would go when we were booked in and kept us informed whilst offering us an earlier flight that had more chance of going. In the end time ran out and we couldn't do the 45 min with snow landing as it wasn't safe, but we did have a fantastic 35 minutes in the air viewing the glaciers and surrounding area. It was incredible and we were so lucky that they were flexible enough to get us up there. Thank you to Poppy.

Superb experience from start to finish. Very professional yet personal at the same time.
Helicopter flying is by nature at the whim of the weather, and the team at Glacier Country kept us fully informed and adjusted our timings to make things work.
The safety briefing was detailed, and then we jumped in a transfer bus to their private hangar. This was a really good opportunity for our driver to chat to us about the region and glaciers, and is a massive plus compared to departing from the production line in the town!
Our pilot was Dion, and he had such a relaxed manner you couldn’t help but feel safe. The scenery is both epic and sad at the same time. Incredible views, but you can really see how much the glacier has receded.
We landed on the snow for some jolly japes, and Dion took some photos with our phones and his camera. A really nice touch was he printed his best photo and put it into a presentation pamphlet for us - all done on the snow! This is an optional extra but the nominal fee goes straight to the pilot, so I’d highly recommend showing your appreciation in this way.
The flight home was swift and smooth, with more commentary from Dion. A precise landing, chat with the team, stroke of the farm cat, and it was back in the bus for the short hop to town.
A brilliant experience with the most flexible of all the helicopter operators.
It’s worth picking up the phone to them for the best service and a chat about what you need. They’ll look after you.

Poppy was a brilliant pilot and a great photographer! Just stunning to experience these wondrous glaciers up close and personal. The office was even considerate of cloudy skies and offered other time suggestions. I’ve taken a few helicopter rides and I definitely recommend this company and duration of flight, you see all of the notable landmarks and have plenty of time in your snow landing. Well done guys.

This is a really well run organization that strives to take care of its customers! The entire staff goes out of their way to ensure you have a trip of a life time. The helicopters are stunning, the commentary as we flew over the glaciers was informative and fun and the touch down landing was spectacular. Overall a really magical experience. I would highly recommend Glacier Country Helicopters!

One of the best experiences that I have ever had. I would definately recommend this as a must do when visiting New Zealand. We actually booked for a 2.15pm flight but arrived earlier and was put on the 12.15pm flight. They run a very good operation and making sure safety is a priority. The views are spectacular and was so glad we did this….Highly recommend..

An unforgettable time, all of the staff were very helpful to rebook early next morning because of bad weather. Check-in was quick.
The flight was awesome, and I was able to sit up front, which allowed excellent photography.

It was my first time in a helicopter and an overall great experience. Easy booking, professional, and informative tour. They even called me the day of to move my flight up two hours earlier for hope of better weather conditions, and it was fine. I did the 45 min tour, if you're short on time or want to spend a little less money I would guess you will still get a great/similar experience with the shorter duration tour.

Glacier County Helicopters is a very professionally-run family operation and their communication processes are very efficient. The weather was unsuitable on the day of our scheduled flight but the company managed to reschedule our trip to the next morning when conditions were perfect. Dion was our very informative pilot who gave us a fantastic experience, including two snow landings. The area is beautiful from ground level but you gain another perspective from being airborne- exhilarating views of majestic mountains and glaciers. Highly recommended.

We booked to do all 3, but on the day there was only other passengers that wanted to do the shorter 2 glacier flight. Fear of not getting up the next day, we went! It was outstanding and we absolutely loved it. Only downside was the chopper we were in, didn't have all around windows, so for us being in the back, the view was limiting. The snow landing was wonderful, and our pilot was awesome! Totally do it if you are there. Memories and photos are forever!

Thanks for your feedback, our larger 6 seater helicopters are AS350 B2 Squirrels and are the most popular passenger helicopter in the world. They are designed for passengers with their big panoramic windows so unfortunately we don't have a lot of other options helicopter wise to provide bigger windows. I'm glad you enjoyed the flight though and the weather turned its best side for you!
