As an American diplomat that was posted and recently evacuated from China, I came to New Orleans not knowing much about the city. I signed up for a full day tour with Urban Adventures through Marriott Bonvoy activities which included a food tour, a cocktail tour, and a jazz tour. I was instantly impressed after the food tour with Butch where I learned about the French Quarter, history of NO, cuisine styles. I tasted the gumbo, fritters, Bloody Mary, gator sausage, the famous beignet, Muffuletta, and both original and cafe au latit creamy praline. Butch showed us the places locals go to and avoided tourist areas. This was followed by the cocktail tour with Sophie. She was awesome! Very down to earth and knowledgeable of the best local cocktails there is to know. I had the the famous frozen Irish coffee, the Hurricane, the Sazerac, French 75, and an off the menu drink at the Bombay Club. Sophie talked about her experiences after moving here and fell in love with NOLA. Quite admirable! Finally, Sophie handed me off to Shane who did my jazz tour. We stared at the Louis Armstrong Park / Congo Square, then went to J&M Recording Studio (Now the Lost Sock), 1st Jazz Museum (Now St. Pierre Hotel), Buffa's Lounge (Saw the Ella Fitzgerald- inspired singer, Meryl Zimmerman) and Maison (Saw The Shotgun Jazz Band). Shane was extremely knowledgeable about the history of jazz and told us inspiring stories of Louis Armstrong, Buddy Bolden, Cosimo Matassa, Roy Brown (Good Rockin' Tonight), and Little Richard (Tutti Frutti). Both Sophie and Shane sent me a personalized follow up email after the tour with additional interesting facts and places to tour. I highly recommend visitors to consider signing up for the full day tour where you get to hit the truly best places the crescent city has to offer!

All of our tour guides were top notch and extremely knowledgeable. Not only about their subject on the tour, but the city and history itself. Angela and Ryan gave excellent food and drink suggestions even beyond what we had time to cover in the tour. Food portion definitely had us satisfied with the amounts and variety. The cocktails were all delicious. Last tour was the jazz portion which was a bit much after a full day of eating and drinking but once we started touring the bands and restaurants I feel it really hit it's stride. Wonderful time with all the tour guides. Would definitely recommend!

By far the best day I have spent whilst travelling around the USA for work. I purposely gave myself an extra day in NO as I heard great things about the city and wanted time to explore. I choose this tour as it offered something different to other more "tourist" tours, but covered everything that's great about New Orleans, its food, its jazz scene, all topped off with some cocktails...what a combination.

The day flew by and even though it was only a small group of us, it made the tour more personal which is always better. The tour is broken down into sections so you can really focus on each area in more detail. The guides was fantastic, really knew there stuff and shared stories with us I doubt we would of heard otherwise. Really enjoyed the day, the perfect tour for any first timer or those who want an in-depth cover of the best bits of the city in one day!

Urban Adventures has become an absolute must for me everywhere I go as they always have the best tours and quality, So for my first time to NOLA, I went with their 3 in 1 combo tour. Keep in mind, this is 3 different tours with 3 different guides chained together. Some people seem to not like this, but it doesn't bother me in any way.
The day started with their morning food adventure. Angela was our guide and was great. She was very friendly and open to suggestions and very knowledgeable. We got to have all kinds of food and bits of history thrown in. This segment started at about 10:30 and lasted roughly 2.5 hours. We covered a lot in the French Quarter and was a great way to get familiar with things for a return to the area.
Next up was the cocktail tour at about 2pm and lasted bout 2.5 hours. Our guide Sophie was incredible. We went to quite a few unique places and everything was amazing. It was very chill and we had a great time trying all kinds of different drinks in amazing places.
Lastly was the jazz tour at 5:30 and lasted about 2.5 hours. I was the only one during this portion. My guide Kevin was great. He is also a musician, so he was very into the jazz scene and had a lot of good suggestions. There was a lot of history attached too which I really liked.
In conclusion, this was an all day adventure with a lot of amazing experiences and people. If you're interested in an all in one NOLA experience, you really can't go wrong here. Urban Adventures always has the best adventures. You definitely won't be disappointed with this one.

We thought that this full day tour would be a single tour with food, cocktails and jazz, with the same tour guide for the day. As it turned out (and I should have read the TA reviews in advance to understand this) we had three separate tours, with three seperate guides. As a result the handoff was not very graceful and confusing. We really enjoyed Kevin, who did the food tour, but wish he had been the jazz tour guide because that part with Kaizer was very disappointing. We spent far too long discussing politics and very little time enjoying and learning about jazz in New Orleans. I would suggest that you use this company for the food and possibly the cocktail tour and find somebody more connected to do a jazz tour.

Hello and we acknowledge your feedback. We are sorry to hear of the response to our experience and will discuss the situation you’ve given. Your jazz tour guide has very high marks for his version of the tour, especially as a born and raised local with a keen view of the city’s music- so not sure of the situation- especially since he is not particularly much into politics. We would have been happy to discuss this with you, but unfortunately, this is the first we have heard of any issue. Safe travels

Great way to experience the city. If your plan is to walk around, eat, drink, and listen to music- you might as well be led by a local that knows all the spots and can provide a history lesson along the way. It's a long day, but exactly what we wanted to do.

This tour is a combination of the three tours Urban Adventures offers in NOLA. Food, Cocktails, and Jazz. We met our first guide Butch at the Artillery Park on the first day of June. It was sunny and warm. He took us to a place called 801 where we had some excellent Creole style gumbo (worth playing (yes, playing) for) and some alligator sausage. Butch explained the difference between Cajun and Creole, take the tour to hear that part. Then we went to the French market area where we had a muffaletta from Franks, sampled some pralines from Evans, ate some boiled and spicy crawfish at the Oyster and Seafood Bar and had a beignet at Loretta's for dessert. Butch also told us a great deal of the history of the area and gave us some great tips for other things to do.

Then Butch handed us over to his associate, Sophie, for the cocktail portion of the day. First we went to Molly's for a frozen Irish coffee, very cold and refreshing, then on to Lefeetes for a hurricane, then the Pirates Alley bar for a Sazarac, then to Antiones for a French 75, and ended at the Bombay Club for a very complicated drink called Ramos Gin Fizz. My favorite was the Sazarac.. Sophie told us some of the history of the French Quarter and how the bars came to be.

After all that Sophie handed us off to Rene for some history of Jazz. We visited a park with a statue of Louis Armstrong, the place the recording studio many great musicians recorded, and a hotel where Louis stayed very often. Rene also told us about the different styles of architecture from the French and Spanish ownership of New Orleans. We ended this portion at Maisons having a cocktail and listening to some very good live musicians.

My hubby and I were on our first ever NOLA visit and decided to go for the full day three event tour.

We had Angela for our Food tour, what a lovely lady. Angela was knowledgable and enthusiastic, very proud as she should be of the dishes we tried ... authentic and delicious NOLA food. Thank you so much Angela.

We had beautiful Sophie for our Cocktails tour. Another very smart lady giving us history and knowledge of the French Quarter whilst organising divine cocktails for us to taste. We felt that we got the real FQ, not just the crazy busy part too. Sophie, you are a darling, thank you for going that extra mile.x.

We had the incorrigible and talented Kaiser for our Jazz tour. We had fun as we wandered and he gave us relevant and interesting background and up to the minute Jazz. We finished off at a pub for some drinks and soaked up the atmosphere.

Your team were amazing Urban Adventures, we had an absolute blast and will treasure the memory of our day together with our pictures for many years to come.

First thing to know, this tour is broken up into 3 separate tours which we didn't know prior to booking. With that said we had three separate tour guides so keep that in mind so you can plan your tipping accordingly we had to make change.

With that said we had Kaizer for our food tour who took us to try Aunt Sally's pralines, gumbo either seafood or chicken and sausage and catfish nuggets from the gumbo shop, muffaletta sandwich from Franks, oysters from the French Market and beignets from lorettas, (also in the french market) In my opinion get the chicken and sausage gumbo from the Gumbo Shop it has way more flavor than the seafood one which is the one I ordered (my husband got the chicken and sausage). The highlight was the praline stuffed beignets from Loretta's they were amazing. Kaizer had a goofy personality but kept things real and talked about his favorite places locals go around the city. He was very knowledgeable and did his best to answer any questions the group had. There were six people in our first tour (7 including Kaizer). Once the food tour ended we hung out in a mall with Kaizer for about an hour until our next tour was ready to start, then we met with....

SOPHIE! She greeted us with a warm hug as if greeting an old friend and took us around the city to bars off the beaten path and away from bourbon street. She is a little shining star who loves her job and it shows. For our cocktail tour it was just me, my husband and Sophie. First we went to Mollys on the market and had a frozen irish coffee, (this was me and my husband's favorite drink). I hate coffee guys but this drink was pretty close to a wendys frosty with a kick of baileys it was really good! Then we tried a hurricane at La fitte blacksmiths shop and that was a very minimalist hurricane that wasn't filled with a ton of processed juice, you can tell they use fresh ingredients by the way it tastes. Then we went to pirates alley and had the official drink of New Orleans, the Sazarac. I tried one the night before elsewhere and thought it was gross and boy was I glad I gave this one a try because it was delicious where you get your drinks definitely matter in New Orleans. Next we went to Antoine's and got French 75s which were great, and Sophie gave us a tour of the building. Our last stop was the Bombay club where we tried a Ramos Gin Fizz which was an off menu item that Sophie called in 20 minutes before we got there because it takes so much time to make right, and that was a delightful drink as well. Sophie was our best tour guide hands down and made our time with her super fun. 5 stars!!!!

Next we met Rene who took us on our Jazz tour, which brought us around town to different locations where we discussed the historical significance of each. One stop was an unassuming laundry mat that we actually got to walk into and saw an area in the back that used to be an old recording studio where songs like "tooty fruity" were recorded. We also took a public trolley to Frenchmen street and stopped inside Favela shic to listen to some music and have a drink. Then we crossed the street to the Maison where the tour ended.

My only criticism of the jazz tour would be let the tour guides take guests to clubs that have a cover, we were told that they can't take us to places where there is a cover but you really limit the guests experience by hindering your guides like this. Let them show us which places they truly think are the best places to listen to Jazz by removing this limitation.
