Overview

See a side of Brooklyn that most visitors miss when you embark on this small-group walking tour of the Carroll Gardens neighborhood. Follow in the footsteps of locals and visit some of the area’s most popular independent shops and eateries. While you sample everything from artisanal cheeses and crunchy falafel to treats at an old-fashioned soda fountain, your guide will share stories about the shops, as well as Brooklyn’s history.

What to Expect

This small-group tour of Carroll Gardens and its food scene kicks off at Stinky Bklyn, an artisanal cheese shop. This tour occurs over lunchtime and includes a generous array of nibbles, so come ready to snack.

Sample some cheese, and hear stories about the cheese shop before heading to your next stop. As you explore what Carroll Gardens has to offer, your guide shares stories about the neighborhood, about Brooklyn’s history, and the business owners who have helped turn the area into a hot spot for food lovers.

During the tour, you visit a number of stops, including a Middle Eastern bakery, an Italian coffee shop, and an old-fashioned soda fountain. In addition to the culinary stops, you’ll also get to admire the characteristic brownstone houses found in the area.

The tour ends on Court Street, near a subway station.
