    Stop: 75 minutes
Travel back to three horrific days in 1863 that transformed a small idyllic town into a mass graveyard. Our popular “History and Haunts Tour” is family friendly and includes tales of historic and ongoing spectral activity as well as the forgotten history of this “No Mans Land” between the battle lines where civilians quivered in basements while bullets whizzed through their homes for days. Nearly every building still standing on this tour still vibrates from the AFTERMATH.

Not worth the money
Aug 2021 • Family
Lots of "telling" vs showing. Just walked up the street, stories more about general hauntings vs civil war tails. Overall disappointed, would not do again. Guide was knowledgeable but tried to be funny, think would have been more enjoyable if guide was more serious and less cocky with stories and set a "spooky" tone. Was more cheesy and know-it-all. Really couldn't wait for guide to stop talking. Stinks as was perfect night with thunder to have an awesome spooky experience.

Excellent Experience
Aug 2021 • Couples
My husband and I took this history and ghost tour and we thought it was fabulous. The guide was extremely knowledgeable in the history of the battle and each building that has some historical significance.

Plenty of free parking next to the meeting area and it was very easy to find.

The guide was entertaining as well as educational. This was the best Gettysburg ghost tour we have done so far. We have completed three.

Hardly a ghost tour
Aug 2021
First of all, if your main priority is hearing ghost stories, this is not the tour for you. My husband and I were only in Gettysburg for one night, and I am so disappointed that I chose this company for a ghost tour. While our group size was nice (about 13 I believe), I would much rather have had a better tour guide. He was arrogant and even misogynistic towards the young girls in our tour. When he appeared, he never introduced himself or welcomed us; he seemed disinterested in who we were, even though he asked where we were all from (none of us were locals). He would bad-mouth the other ghost tours that were walking our same route, and consistently reminded us that he was the first to walk this route and that the others glommed on to his ideas. There was a young girl who was clearly on the autistic spectrum in our tour, and whenever she would blurt out something about a ghost or haunted house, the tour guide would react sarcastically. At one point he asked her sisters to choose which story they wanted to hear since we only had time for one, and when the girls shyly responded that they didn't know, his reply was, "Just like a woman...reminds me of my ex-wife." He also kept referring to them while talking about baking and making a good living off it; he never once included the two teen boys in that discussion. He even cracked a joke about Jennie Wade when telling us of how often her dead body was moved around the town: he quipped, “she got around.” Overall, we heard maybe three or four ghost stories on our nearly two hour walk. The rest of the time was filled with sad, unfortunate historical tales, and passing around “real” Civil War-era bullets. The walk itself was a few blocks in basically a large square, and we walked in the direction opposite of the Jennie Wade house. It was cool to hear some of the history of the houses we passed, but this was advertised as a ghost tour and we wanted to be scared not taught. Despite following through on the promise of showing us real ghost pictures at the end of the tour, my husband and I had already checked out. This tour guide needs to learn how to respect people of all ages and genders, living and dead. He needs to also learn how to engage fully with his tour, not just be sarcastic and rude to others doing the same job he was doing. I would avoid this company’s “Haunts and History Family Ghost Walking Tour in Gettysburg.”

way too crowded
Aug 2021
We went this past Saturday and our tour group was way too big. The guide kept saying how he was not used to a group this large. Very hard to hear. Additionally, we were constantly surrounded by other groups. We ended up keeping a tally of how many times our guide complained about all the other groups and guides talking over him, we ended up around 18 times! Much more of a history lesson than a ghost tour. You will not go inside any buildings, inside you just walk around a busy street.

Very Good Ghost Tour and History Lesson
Aug 2021
I really enjoyed this tour! I thought our guide was very knowledgable and the group size (about 20) was manageable for him. I would definitely recommend this and definitely do it again. The only reason it is not a 5 star is because I have been on a ghost tour in Boston that was over the top incredible...that was a 5. This one was very good, however, and worth the money.

Great unique ghost tour
Aug 2021 • Family
Great and unique experience. I live in next county and do enjoy doing the different ghost tours. This was a first time trying to make contact with the other side and I was able to make contact. Thanks Mark for some great detailed information on some of the families of Gettysburg. I will recommend to others. He was in period costume which always adds to the experience.

We were ENTHRALLED!
Aug 2021
We are still talking about all we learned on this tour! So much info on the horrific civilian experience and lasting effects of the epic battle. The whole group "hung" on every word from our fascinating guide throughout the tour. We have been on many tours around the country. This tour was in a class by itself. Don't miss this tour when you visit Gettysburg!

Disappointing
Very disappointed in tour. There is no actual office, you meet in park and in the throng of people you try to figure if you are in right place. Then, when tour begins you find you are in a very large group. Hard to stay together in such a large group and be able to hear the stories. Have been on many other ghost tours in other cities. Gettysburg has lots of great ghost stories but this tour is just disappointing.

We are actually the only tour in Gettysburg that sets limits on the size of our tour groups. We do that to avoid the situation your described. Unfortunately, one of our affiliates over-booked the tour that night, and we're sorry about that. Please email us: customercare@ghostwalkusa.com so we can make it up to you. BTW, the reason we meet in the park is that there is free parking nearby, and there are benches for people to sit on.
