About
Join us for “Griffins, Goblets, and Gold,” an interactive ‘Magical Arts’ tour in the Metropolitan Museum inspired by a well-loved book series about magic and wizards. See spaces and places that might remind you of those in the books, from part of an actual castle to mythical creatures that resemble those in the story. You’ll participate in activities, explore the museum from a wizard’s perspective… and maybe even do a little magic. (Appropriate interactive wizards gear is encouraged.) Advance reservations required. Please allow two hours for your tour. Please note: There are no objects or replicas of objects from the movies in the Metropolitan Museum. These tours are in no way endorsed by or affiliated with J.K. Rowling, Bloomsbury Publishing, Arthur Levine Books, Scholastic, Little, Brown, Pottermore or Warner Bros.

This interactive tour will last approximately two hours; you’re welcome to stay in the museum after the tour ends. We suggest that you wear sneakers or comfortable walking shoes--and brush up on your wizarding knowledge! Wizarding gear is always welcome, but wands must be small enough to stow away in a bag.

      Ghosts at the Met
I went with my daughter and 7-year-old grand-daughter yesterday on this wonderful tour of the Met with Evan. We looked at “scary” paintings, choosing up to 3 that “scared” us and told the other participants why. I grew up in NYC a ten-minute walk from the Met and went there at least twice a month from c. age 7 through high school with my mother. With Evan we even visited collections that I’d never seen before. A superb time was had by all three of us!

      A fascinating Met experience
Evan is a wealth of knowledge and such a compelling storyteller and tour guide. She brings more dimension and depth to the Met than one could find individually or on a standard tour. Very interesting and entertaining !

      excellent tour
My group of friends took Evan's "Art of Stories" tour. This was a perfect tour for our group's love of books, art and stories. Evan is a wealth of information and knows how to weave a tale that intersects the story with the beautiful art in front of you. We had an amazing time and learned so much.

Evan was exceptional, her knowledge and her skill of passing this knowledge onto the tour was 100% She kept us engaged and entertained with back stories we would never otherwise have heard had we taken the standard Met Tour. Highly recommend

      Awesome tour
Our bookclub from California took a trip to NYC and took this tour at the met. We learned so much about the history of stories, through the art of the Museum. It was a wonderful tour.

Lots of fun and lots of learning
If you love art and literature, you will find the story telling throughout The Met a very engaging experience. I was with a group of friends and we all agreed that it was a well worthwhile experience. I personally would like more stories related directly to artworks, like we did with a Renoir painting, but that is just a personal preference. Lots of fun and lots of learning all at the same time!

A one of a kind experience in NYC!
Looking for a creative, interesting and fun thing to do in NYC? May I recommend Fable & Lark tours! I took a tour with a group of friends and all of us loved it. The tour guide keeps a good pace, you learn the big picture details about the MET but what I loved is you get to hear the behind the scenes stories and interesting facts about the art that you can't learn anywhere else. I can't recommend this tour enough.

      Unforgettable Tour!
Evan is hands down one of the very best docents I’ve encountered. We have now done 3 tours through Fable & Lark and they have all blown me away. Evan is engaging and really knows her stuff! One of the best things is she speaks in such a conversational tone that you might miss that you’re learning things! All 3 of the tours we have done with them have brought us to areas of The Met that you would probably never make your way to on your own. They have a few more tours that will 100% be a part of our next trip to NYC.

      Tour
Evan was a fantastic tour guide and so full of knowledge! She was great about engaging us in conversation relating to the history of society's fears. The Met is such a grand place with so many pieces, it was overwhelming to think of where to start. Evan made this easy and answered any questions we had and made great recommendations!!! This was a highlight of my trip!

Book Group tour of the Met
According to National Geographic, The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the largest museum in the Western Hemisphere. That said, it can be a little overwhelming. Enter Fable & Lark: Storied Adventures. Our tour started at the first piece acquired by the museum, which is near the statue of Hercules. There Evan cited The Tales of Gilgamesh as one of the first known stories of the “hero’s quest” and how later works such as The Odyssey and The Labours of Hercules were influenced by it. From there Evan took us through the centuries and interwove art pieces with literature. Evan has extensive knowledge of the Met as she worked there for a number of years. I tend to get information overload but not so with Evan. I wish the tour was longer. I’m not sure which tour our group of seven book lovers did with Evan, it felt like she tailored it to us. But I think that’s the hallmark of a great guide!

Highly Recommend ‘Heavenly’ Tours with Evan!
Evan is the crème de la crème of guides, a quintessential New Yorker, one you hope to meet. An exceptional conversationalist, she’s knowledgeable about all my favorite subjects and beyond. Her tours are just enough interaction with engaging context that makes the ancient or obscure relevant and digestible in that massive museum. Without interpretation, the Met can be an exhausting, overwhelming place. We first joined the Ghost Stories Tour and were so delighted we returned for Staged and are excited for the next!

Ofcourse the MET would have all things creepy!
My boys and I took this tour during spring break. I appreciated that it was a small group. My boys are 13 and they were completely engaged the entire time. It was interactive and interesting and we got lots of sidebar stories. Evan is extremely knowledgeable and very warm.

Much more than just ghost stories!
Was pleasantly surprised that this tour was more educational than just sensationalistic! Evan integrates superstitions, mythology, history, evolution, and spirituality into the discussion to make it more insightful and give the pieces more depth. Evan worked at the Met for several years so she also provided a curatorial viewpoint.

      Highly recommend: “Staged” tour
I thoroughly enjoyed “Staged: The Museum Tour for People Who Love Broadway.” Evan is an outstanding tour guide, and she led an informative and delightful adventure through the Met! Weaving together her vast knowledge of both the museum and the world of theater, this was a refreshing, creative way to experience the Met: uniquely breathing life into the exhibits and placing them into the greater context of theater and its history. I highly recommend this tour to any Met visitor; whether it’s your first time or you have wandered the halls many times before, you will be pleasantly surprised by what you have gained from the experience.

My Girl Scout troop had the most amazing time participating in the virtual tour. Even those girls who do not love Harry Potter were participating. I’m especially grateful for the list of resources we received after the tour.

This tour was FANTASTIC! Evan's extensive knowledge of myth and the museum is surpassed only by her warm and inviting attitude towards all things magical. I was so impressed by Evan's ability to connect the fantasies I love with the histories available in the museum - it was such a rare and fun experience to see my favorite 'fake' worlds come to life in this very real one. Would highly suggest - appropriate for all ages, and fun with friends!!

Thank you so much for that absolutely lovely review! It's very much appreciated, and it was an absolute pleasure to discuss all things fantasy and magical, and to look at the works of art with a “fantastic” twist! ! Looking forward to seeing you on another tour!

Evan was so knowledgeable about the museum and also able to adapt and change the tour as needed to meet our son’s interests. She really let him guide the show, and then made what we looked at all the more interesting and magical! Highly recommend!

I can not say enough about this virtual tour. Due to Covid, we are not quite ready to venture into the city. Evan was amazing with my 9 year old who was engaged the entire session. She learned so much and enjoyed the interactive activities. I have recommended this activity to other parents in town. Upon completion each child gets a formal invitation to the MET wizardry school. Can not wait to sign up for future events.

Evan was our tour guide and she was AMAZING! Her attention to detail and knowledge in mythology and all things magical made experience so special. Evan is witty, very smart and easily related to my moody teenager. I loved the interactive activities for kids and adults. I highly recommend a visit to The Met with Evan!

Evan made the Met completely accessible and engaging for a 9 year old Harry Potter enthusiast, and I absolutely loved it too! The tour was interactive (which let's be honest the Met is fascinating but not interactive really) and interesting. Evan was so knowledgeable that any questions, both about the tour or the museum, were answered. When we showed any interest in something not "on tour" Evan took the time to explain. LOVED IT ALL!

Wonderful girls day at the museum on the Griffins, Goblets and Gold museum tour. My 9 year old absolutely lives every minute of it. It was a great way to introduce her to the Met. Evan is incredibly knowledgeable about the museum and the book content. She engaged every one of us, paying particular attention to all of the children. Highly recommend!
