- Trail122642458770 contributionsGood museum for fans of BroadwayThis outstanding museum is great for those who love and appreciate Broadway. The cost of admission is a little pricey, generally >40$. Tickets are discounted if you visit after 4 pm. We were lucky to receive an offer for $25 tickets due to signing up for lottery/rush tickets through Telecharge. The museum is immersive, interactive, colorful, and had numerous instagrammable photo opportunities. Even the walls of the staircase are adorned with pictures and text. Just about every musical was represented in some form or another in this museum. You will start on the third floor and work your way down. It follows a chronological timeline from Broadway’s origins to the present. The recreation of a West Side story set was well done. I especially liked the intricate model of the Gershwin theater (home of Wicked). The museum ends with a fascinating exhibit demonstrating what is like to be behind the scenes of a Broadway show. We spent about 2 hours there.Written 6 October 2024
- srohrer430 contributionsmust seeI enjoyed this show very much. There is not really a bad seat in the theater. I could hear the voices very well and the costumes were lovely. We bought alcohol drinks there as well and they were delicious.Written 4 October 2024

- karenaO2645IU0 contributionsSuch a beautiful show!! The music is fantastic!!I have read the book, and seen the movie multiple times, but the musical brings a new dimension to this story. Soooooo beautifully done! Maryanne Plunkett's portrayal of Allie was so touching! All of the actors were amazing and their voices were divine! My daughters were hooked on the soundtrack before we went and now I listen to it all the time. Sad to hear this show is leaving Broadway in Dec, but glad to hear it will be going on tour. It is a must see!Written 30 September 2024

Most important at this time as so many freedoms are in jeopardy. Understanding the trials, tribulations and torture Alice Paul and others experienced to gain the right to vote should make any female NEVER miss the opportunity to vote.Written 30 September 2024

I'm sorry to say that one of my favorite movies turned into a Broadway show did not deliver. While the set design was amazing, the singing was very good and the revised story plot was ok; my biggest problem was with the people playing Christian and Satine! They were both great singers and attractive, but at no point in the entire show did I believe that they even liked each other let alone desperately love each other. They barely looked at each other. In the movie I TOTALLY believe Ewan McGreggor and Nicole Kidman were in love with each other. There was real HONESTY in both of their performances and none in the people performing in the Broadway show. Even my 10 year old left with the impression that these 2 actors just wanted to sing their songs and have people see them performing these parts. She even compared their performances to those of a couple of girls who were in her acting class last month and contributed to the show falling short. In her words, there's only so much you can do if someone just doesn't want to play with you. Too bad. I was really looking forward to seeing this show. Not the worst show, but so glad I purchased the tickets at a discount!

We went there 0200pm because our flight was planed 1020pm. We bought the ticket one day before at the hirschfeld theater desk. Forget about tix app and other apps. Over the net there are concierge called charges.... which means somebody comes 30min before the start out of the theatre and hand you over the tickets. Go to the desk and get the best price and the ticket in your hand.
The show as great. Have seen many other shows arround the world last 30 years. This was one of the best, maybe the best we have seen!
Arround the corner is a caffe, so there is no need to stand 1h in the queue. Drink a coffe go there 15mins before the show start and have a great time!

We were really worried about the bad reviews in their social media, but everything went great, they were on time outside the theater and with our tickets. Although we didn’t pick our sits ( They were really up in the mezzanine area) we could see clearly the show. Thank you!

This production totally exceeded our expectations. It is simply over the top! The musical performances were better than the movie with Karen Oliva and other cast members. The pre-show activity is quite sensual, more so than in Chicago. The sets and the energy must be seen and experienced to be believed. Don't miss this one!

Overall:Phenomenal set and theater. Music and dance numbers were brilliantly choreographed and excecuted. Brilliant performances by Sahr Ngaujah and Eric Anderson. The Blonde Marmalade singer/dancer’s vocals and dance by far stood out above all the other great talents.
Ashley/Satine voice was spectacular.
Negatives:
The magic of the love story was lost in the musical. With the show being spectacular, I couldn’t wait to see the musical’s take on the movie’s emotionally spectacular ending. It fell flat. Practically non existent. There was no spectacular ending. They cut out the opening night of their play and the Duke completely. It felt rushed and unfinished. I was highly disappointed with the lack of a beautifully tragic ending. The love story was shoved aside for the added musical numbers (which were great and entertaining).
The Moulin Rouge’s love story is by far one of the best love stories ever told. But Not in the musical. Zero chemistry, it felt forced and almost cringe worthy in comparison to the movie. Why would they waste what
Could be the most spectacular scene and or ending on a flat and rushed ending with little to no conclusion for the Duke, and little to know depth to this epic love story??!
The chemistry and heart of the movie is not found in the musical. But again, the musical numbers are done well.
The set and choreography are entertaining and make it worth seeing. But don’t expect to feel the magic of the story in the musical.

Excellent production, very entertaining with lots of dancing and singing including pop song favourites. Some really talented singers in the show, it also had quirky moments of humour which added flair to the show. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting NYC. It was the highlight of my trip!

Our family visited NYC in February, 2023 to celebrate the 16th birthday of one of our family members. Our time in the City was fantastic, but the crowning glory was seeing the Broadway Musical, Moulin Rouge at the Al Hirschfield Theater. Seeing a Broadway musical is a treat in itself, but Moulin Rouge with Aaron Tveit was spectacular. The music, acting, colors, setting and vocals are perfection. Moulin Rouge centers on a world filled with glitz and grandeur where aristocrats and Bohemians rub elbows as they revel in overindulgence. The story encapsulates truth, beauty, freedom and love. It is no wonder that Moulin Rouge is a winner of 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Don't miss an opportunity to see this brilliantly executed musical.

Wow , what an amazing cast and score. Baz Luhrmann's movie which is made into a musical is fast paced and exciting. A great array of popular and famous songs wind throughout this musical.

This show was so great. The set, costumes, and dancing alone was worth it. The pop/rock songs were at times funny, but also so relevant and a new appreciation for their lyrics was gained. I mean, why not use a pop song with great lyrics? The writing doesn’t get any better. I went with my 18yr old daughter and many of the songs were from her growing up years, which I could relate to as well. She loved it! This musical does not disappoint!
