About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- paulmK1723BL0 contributionsChristmas Lights TourChristmas in New York is a popular destination and on many bucket lists, with the Rockefeller tree, Christmas window displays and a carriage in Central Park in the snow being the front page of the travel brochure choices. However, if this is as far as you manage to venture then I’m afraid you are missing out on the full New York Christmas experience, and buddy, it ain’t in Manhattan. The Christmas lights in Brooklyn began in the eighties with Lucy Spata in the Dyker Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. Nearly four decades later and the area shines brighter than the lights on broadway and Times Square combined. Displays boast extreme Christmas decorations that include animatronic characters and in one case a 15 foot Santa. Getting to the area is not easy on public transport and in a private car, FUHGETTABOUDIT!! However, the kind people of A Slice Of Brooklyn bus tours are on hand to get you to the hot spots and a few bonus places too. We were picked in Union Square by the bus with a warm Brooklyn welcome and a local tour guide that was informative and entertaining. Once you get to Dyker Heights you are guided on foot through the area, which is perfect for photography and getting those all important social media posts and unique Christmas photos for loved ones. You get tips for the best photo ops and staff are happy to take photos for you, so you don’t have to trust strangers with your phone. There’s plenty of rime to take everything in and absorb the Christmas atmosphere. As a bonus after you get back on the bus you get taken to Sam the Greeks house which is decked out with stunning lights, Christmas trees and hundreds of festive ornaments. The whole experience made my Christmas this year and I cannot recommend this tour enough. Thank you to Tony and the whole Slice of Brooklyn team for an unforgettable experience.Written 29 December 2023

- nancypJ6836EO0 contributionsDyker "Lights" Amazes!Rusty was a great guide and Ruben navigated the bus on narrow streets- a real pro! Lights were unbelivable and walking around to get up close and personal was super. Didn't disappoint! Highly recommend for a fun, NYC/Brooklyn experience!Written 28 December 2023
- Meander531428793400 contributionsDisappointingThe tour was totally not worth it for the money. You spend half your time on the bus and when you finally get to Dyker Heights you have 45 minutes to see the lights. And when I say see the lights it's actually just a square block when there are so many beautiful houses to see. In fact some off the houses advertised don't even have the lights up which is false advertising. Do yourself a favor and take the train in from Manhattan and make an afternoon of it to completely see all the lights and save yourself some money.Written 26 December 2023
- healthylivingw0 contributionsAn Awesome time at: A Slice of Brooklyn Christmas Lights Tour with the amazing Camber Carpenter! All I can say is my wife and I had an awesome time on the Slice of Brooklyn Christmas Lights tour! Our tour guide, Camber Carpenter, was excellent. She provided history of the Christmas lights with humor and fun and also gave us the perfect balance of being with the tour guide and having some time for ourselves to enjoy these awesome light displays. I was so impressed with the tour and Camber that I VLOG’d it on my youtube channel. I highly recommend this tour, and I hope you get a chance to experience it. If you get Camber, it will be a real treat. Happy holidays, everyone!Written 25 December 2023
- NYCConciergeGuide0 contributionsRIPOFFRIPOFF. This tour does not visit the neighborhoods that you see on TV every year. We only saw four truly 'amazing' houses, the rest were just like any suburban neighborhood. Indeed, several times the guide said, "Oh, quick, look down this block as we cross the intersection." We did, and saw AMAZING lights from a distance, but WE NEVER WENT INTO ANY OF THESE BLOCKS. And the 'tour guide' was a disgrace. Losing her place in her script. Hemming and hawing around. A total waste of time and money.Written 22 December 2023
- 65amye0 contributionsHoliday Lights TourOur experience with the Holiday Lights Tour was not the best. I was very excited about the tour initially but wished we had done something different with our time. Check in was easy and our guide was very nice so no problem there at all. The bus smelled like pee when we sat down. We were four rows from the back which I later realized there was a bathroom there. Over the next 3 hours, the smell went from terrible to horrible. It was like the bathroom had not been cleaned or emptied. It wasn't a particular person, that would have dissipated. Also, it is a long drive there but the website does state that so I knew that. The lights just weren't what I thought they would be or at least the number of houses with lights. I was more disappointed with the fact that it took up a lot of our time in NYC to not see much.Written 19 December 2023
- 440bb0 contributionsBeautiful lights! We have taken a Slice of Brooklyn Tour before/the Pizza one! So, we had a black-out night for theatre on a Mon, & decided to book the Christmas light tour. We are not tour people, but loved the pizza one so much, that we couldn't help but try this one. The weather was perfect, as you get off the bus twice. What I thought was unique, was the fact they had a couple more guides meet us IN Brooklyn, to help w/crowd control & safety, to make sure ALL passengers got back to/on the bus! The guide & bus driver were good, they got us there and back safely! I hope people remember to tip on their way off the bus, when their guides & drivers are good! Good job, "A slice of Brooklyn"!Written 19 December 2023
- C8758HEpamelag0 contributionsYa Gotta Do This Tour!My husband and I do a NYC trip every December to take in all the Christmas we can. We usually don’t do tours since we always have an agenda and a restaurant lineup. However, a coworker of ours had just done A Slice of Brooklyn Tour the weekend before last for her second time. Since we knew in advance that the weather wasn’t going to be so great when we were in NY, we decided to change things up a bit. I made our reservation online a few days before, and we were very lucky to get in. The tour was absolutely awesome! It was fun, informative, and we ate some fantastic pizza in Brooklyn. Tony was our tour guide. He is absolutely THE GUY to have when doing a Slice of Brooklyn, or anything Brooklyn-related, for that matter. What a great guy! He is a true “Brooklyn-ite” and knows everything about HIS town. Our first stop, Grimoldi’s, served up an incredible thin and super crispy crust, Margherita pizza, Neapolitan style…. Wow! Nothing but great flavor and texture. Toby was our driver and he did a great job too! He’s a very safe driver, and it showed as he maneuvered our very nicely appointed, mid-sized bus through a whole lot of rain. He’s just a super happy guy who entertained us with his great singing. We saw so much of Brooklyn, so much history. The second pizza stop was at L&B Spumoni Gardens. This was a completely different style of Brooklyn pizza, and equally as great. The pizza here was a thicker, chewier Sicilian style pizza. I decided to only do one slice here, because I absolutely HAD to grab a pint of their homemade Spumoni to go, since this is what they started out doing, and Spumoni happens to be my favorite ice cream. The pint didn’t go far…. I ate every last spoonful of it (all by myself) during the remainder of the hour. Our last actual stop was to the famous Coney Island Boardwalk. It was cold, windy and raining heavily; however, that didn’t stop most of us from getting off a nice warm, dry tour bus and walking the famous boardwalk. There is so much history here. We not only got to eat two different styles of GREAT pizza (and Spumoni), plus Coney Island, we got to see the old and new neighborhoods of Brooklyn where many actors, singers and athletes came from. We also learned a little it of mob history. Tony gave us his ALL when he was talking about Brooklyn. He’s a genuine guy who talks from the heart. I will definitely do this tour again, or maybe another of Tony’s tours; and I highly recommend it. Doing this tour turned what was going to be a washout of a day into a fabulous one.Written 11 December 2023

If you're looking for a fun and informative Brooklyn adventure, this is the one for you! My friends and I enjoyed an air conditioned bus ride around Brooklyn where Marc, the best tour guide ever, took time to connect with everyone on the bus, entertain us with his stories, and educate us on Brooklyn's history and pizza. The pizza at both Grimaldi's and L and B was fantastic. The staff at both places were welcoming and friendly. The bonus visit to Coney Island was a great surprise. Kevin, our driver, expertly steered the bus through some precarious situations. Make your reservation today!

Tony was so quick to answer my email and questions. Mark the tour guide was the very best. My husband is waiting knee replacement surgery and they both made sure we had a front seat on the bus had the bus pull closer to the drop off location and was so great on the tour. The pizzas were delicious, Mark was funny, kind and knowledgable! I would recommend anyone in NYC to take this tour! Thank you both. Art and Kim Miller

We had such a great time! Our tour guide, Marc, kept the energy up on a rainy day! I learned a lot about Brooklyn and was happy to share this experience with my partner and his father. And it helps that we were well fed! The driver and guide were hospitable and charming. And the staff at the restaurants were lovely as well! I would highly recommend a day of pizza eating and mob references to anyone looking for something fun to do in New York!

This is our second time on the Slice of Brooklyn Pizza 🍕 Tour and our kids’ first time - we all LOVED it. Marc has been voted by us as the BEST tour guide EVER. He was hilarious and fussed over our tween and teen, making the tour a highly memorable experience for them. 2 great pizza stops and Spumoni that we have waited 10 years to eat for the second time. Thanks Marc for a great tour Jodie, Paul, Miki & Kai (Wolverine).

Yesterday I went on the Pizza tour of Brooklyn. We had a wonderful time. Our group was such fun & we stopped at Grimaldi & L & b spumoni gardens for Sicilian pizza, beer and spumoni. We drove by lots of places filmed in movies which was so interesting & then lastly went to Coney Island. This was a beautiful winter day with lots of sunshine & we had a great time. Our guide was Marc & he was lots of fun & entertained us the whole time!!

I took this tour as part of a weekend retreat from a hectic work schedule in January 2020. Just one of many trips to the greatest city in the world, NYC.
I never would have expected it to be the last trip to NYC in the foreseeable history of my existence. We had tickets to Broadway this weekend, but there is no Broadway right now.
But back to the tour. You could not spend your money in a more enjoyable way. This tour was FUN! Marc (our tour guide) has to be one of the kindest, most engaging people I have ever met in my life. The tour was informative, enchanting, and (obviously) pizza-filled! It was Marc who pulled it all together and made everything seem so wonderful. It certainly didn't hurt that it was a sunny, crystal clear day.
The tour picks you up in Manhattan and whisks you to a place called Brooklyn. Yes, the pizza was great, but it was all the other things about Brooklyn, all the factoids and personal tidbits that made this tour so memorable. You see things through the eyes of a Brooklynite (Marc), and you are better for it.
Book the tour and enjoy! Whenever that can be again.

The Pizza Tour of Brooklyn was world class! Tony was a pleasant, engaging, knowledgeable and humorous guide. We felt as if he was a member of our family. I’ve rarely enjoyed a tour as much as I enjoyed this tour. It’s a must see if anyone wants an enjoyable and more complete tour of one of Nee York City’s historic boroughs.

Marc was interesting to listen to as he pointed out famous landmarks filled with many fun facts and stories. He is hilarious! This is a 5 star tour and we got to eat pizza too! We had such a great time and highly recommend this gastronomic adventure! Both pizza's were equally delicious but different as one was Neapolitan Style and the other Sicilian Style. That you Marc for making this a most delightful day to spend with you in Brooklyn! Dolores and Scott, Allentown, NJ

Do you pass the house on Blue bloods on the pizza tour?
Fritz

Yes, assuming that you are referring to the house with a two-car garage - the driveway slopes down to the garage (I did not see the movie). The bus stopped in front of it for couple of moments while our guide talked about it.
BTW, different guides may travel slightly different routes or emphasize different points of interest. Check ahead of time.

Jerri V

I don't think so. I've done the tour numerous times and not noticed any. At L&B you want to purchase Spumoni anyways, it is amazing. After the pizza and Spumoni, you'll be too full to think of anything else. Definitely do not let the cannoli keep you from an awesome day in Brooklyn with some of the best tour guides ever!

Hi,
No. Only scheduled stops but you could Uber to the opposite side of the Bridge and walk back or go on a specific Bridge Walk trip.
Enjoy your visit.
