Old Town Tequila and Tortillas San Diego Small Group Tour with a Local Guide
US$61.00
Overview
Taste your way through Old Town San Diego during this 2-hour culinary tour. Visit a side of San Diego many travelers don't see and take a hike to California's birthplace. Tequila and tortilla tastings included.
What to Expect
Meet your guide and group at 2660 Calhoun Street, at the flagpole in front of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in the town square. Meeting time is 1pm.

Weather permitting, begin a short hike up the Old Presidio Historic Trail to what is considered the 'Birthplace of California'. As your guide fills you in on the area's history, enjoy views over the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding urban landscape.

Head back down the trail to snack on your first handmade tortilla, accompanied by a taste of some local tequila at an outdoor bar. Move on to see one of the state's oldest haciendas and to a stable that houses some historic stage coaches. Continue on to an open-air market, where your guide will help you discern true authentic crafts from imitation knock-offs to you can purchase the best souvenirs possible.

Take a look around the city's first printing press and the oldest church in San Diego, then an historic brick building and a landmark cemetery. Then, stop at a street side tortilla stand to engage in the corn tortilla vs. flour tortilla debate before moving on to taste one of the world's best tequilas at a local tequila shop. The day's last stop is a famous local Mexican restaurant for the firth tortilla tasting of the day.

Excellent Guide in Jennifer

We had a very enjoyable and informative afternoon on the tequilas and tortilla tour. Our guide had a thorough knowledge of the history of San Diego Old town and its development . We were given quiet time to do our own exploration. The tasting session...More

We took this tour when we decided to play hooky and wanted to try something new. We live in San Diego and have taken many out of town guests to old town for dinner but had only noticed a few random historic buildings. Jennifer did...More

It was a great pleasure to enable your day of playing hooky and showing you around Old Town. You're right - there is a lot to see there but it's importance and context isn't always obvious. There aren't a lot of places in California where...More

So glad your on-the-fly planning included this tour. It was a very fun afternoon that did run a little long, but who wants to go home when you're having fun?! Hope the rest of your trip went well. If you happened to be back in...More

Not Exactly What We Were Expecting

Not that the the tour itself was really BAD... it was just not really what we had expected. We have done food & culture walking tours all over the country and thought that is what this was. It is, more specifically, a historical walking tour...More
