Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- momdillon030 contributionsFantastic adventure with memories that will last a lifetime. Our family was traveling through Utah and made a quick change of plans to visit Moab. We stumbled on NAVTEC and gave them a call. The 4x4 Canyonlands tour was their recommendation for our 1 day stop in the area. When we arrived, the office was well prepared and the tour started on time. Seth was our families tour guide and he shared his passion for geology with us along the entire tour. It was like my kids had their own private geology tutor as they adventured the roads less traveled. I'm not sure any of us will ever look at rocks, dirt, mountains or cliffs the same. Seth shared the history of the areas ancient civilizations, pioneers to the current legends. The views were incredible. He also gave us a few 'choose your own adventure' type options. Seth was a fantastic guide, Navtec was well organized and the adventure was one we'll remember for a lifetime.Written 14 October 2024

So glad we took this tour instead of driving ourselves. Highly recommend this tour and ask for Greg as your guide.Written 13 October 2024
- jennifercC3797RP0 contributionsAmazing!!!Our trip with our guide Cody was amazing! We saw things we would’ve never seen in our short stay. I’m sure we saw things people that have lived here may have never seen! So informative- amazing - - and simply breathtaking! We felt safe of and everything was taken care of bring an empty water bottle and jump in!!! What a day!!!only regret is we didn’t get a group photo:(Written 12 October 2024
- murielpG6424KB0 contributionsAwe-inspiring morning in Canyonland! It was a privilege to be away from crowds and amongst the ancient outcroppings . The guide was knowledgeable , a confident and cautious driver on the back roads and considerate of passengers' needs. I highly recommend. The experience is etched in my memory.Written 12 October 2024
- B3087KWrobinh0 contributionsArches and CanyonlandsThis was a great introduction to both National Parks! Saw a little bit of everything. And Marcia was great. She is very knowledgeable and took us to some great out of the way places. Highly recommend. And we did a little bit of off roasting that was fun.Written 11 October 2024
- LuvBeingOutside0 contributionsA Rocking and a Rolling Grand Tour.Abby was a fantastic tour guide taking us down Potash by the Petroglyphs entering the off road at the Jug Handle Arch through some of Dead Horse, Canyonlands along the White Rim and Shaffer Trail to far into the backcountry in Arches. She was extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna as well as the history of the area pointing out various things that we would of never even thought about. Black Widow nest, with the nest full of eggs and the spiders ex left hanging (😥), Hydra shrimp in a small puddle. Pointed out the Marlboro Man commercial site as well as Thelma and Louise (I can understand why they thought they were at the Grand Canyon). The lunch and picnic spot were right on. The vehicle was very capable though it was well used didn’t bother us a bit, even added to the atmosphere of the tour. The afternoon weather was sunny 90 degrees we were glad we had the air conditioned Landrover. Don’t want to spoil it all for you but ask for Abby as your tour guide and you won’t be disappointed.Written 10 October 2024

- takara590 contributionsPerfect trip to Canyonlands and NeedesWe had an amazing trip to Canyonlands and Needles with Charlotte. Her driving skills and knowlege of the area and geology made this a trip will will never forget. Lunch was excellent and held in a perfect spot. We loved the additional opportunity to do some hiking, but it was never forced. If I could give this more than five stars I definately would.Written 3 October 2024
- Wayahbald0 contributionsRemote CanyonlandsExcellent tour. Pick up was on time. Guide was Ben. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We visited some really remote areas of Canyonlands that required 4 wheel drive. Ben was one of the best guides we have experienced in 25 years of traveling and touring.Written 3 October 2024

Andy is smart, funny, entertaining and so enthusiastic about his job. We saw all that Canyonlands & Arches have to offer and more! We highly recommend Navtec. And Andy!!!Written 1 October 2024
- PhillipK5620 contributionsA Great AfternoonOur Canyonlands tour was a terrific experience for first-time visitors. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to the bottom of the canyon even though the “roads” were often exciting! Yuri, our guide, was wonderful and obviously enjoyed his job. He made the experience even better. I would recommend the tour wholeheartedly, especially if you are new to the area.Written 1 October 2024
- Traveler6824270 contributionsExhilarating trip, with gorgeous views! Our trip was amazing! Courtney was our tour guide, and she started our day out with a smile and energetic personality! It was great to listen to her explain the landscape and how these beautiful views became to be. Being off-road provided us with these views that you normally wouldn't see. There were so many favorites we had on this trip, but the highlights for us were the petroglyphs, Thelma and Louise drive off point at Gooseneck, and the stunning and exhilarating drive on Shafer Canyon road! Highly recommend this tour. Courtney, thank you again for making our trip memorable.Written 29 September 2024
- TriDmn0 contributionsExcellent way to see the Canyon! We were picked up at our hotel on Main Street in Moab. We really didn’t know what to expect and Ben took great care of us. He was knowledgeable and very well skilled at navigating the “roads” from the bottom up to top of the rim. This tour was great and I highly recommend it to gain the best views of Canyonland National Park.Written 28 September 2024

- Nancy O0 contributionsThe best so farCourtney was our experience, 4 x 4 guide and skill driver. She had a wealth of knowledge for the geological and archaeological history of the Canyon lands and Schaeffer Trail. no way would I tried to drive the Schaefer Trail myself in the same vehicle that she drove? What an awesome trip on the edge of heaven. She stopped the vehicle multiple times and did some short mini field trips The history and how the unique beautiful formations formed. I lived in Montana for four years, which was God‘s country and Canyon lands is another God’s country. Awesome trip with a guide with a great personality. Thanks a great outing middle of our trip for our 45th anniversary.Written 28 September 2024

Planned this trip two weeks prior due to the great reviews. We were notified two days prior that our trip would be canceled if they could not get one other person aboard. We offered to pay for the extra ticket as we were only going to be in Moab for a day. When we arrived office staff was great!! Our driver Doug showed up and we began our trip. We were near the entrance of the park when the air conditioning went out in the car. Doug then turned around and said it’s to hot to take the trip without air. Actually it wasn’t even that hot but no problem as he was the guide. We spent half an hour wasted and returned back to the store to exchange vehicles; however there was no other vehicle available and our trip got canceled. Money was immediate returned just inconvenient. My husband and I decided to just discover the park ourselves and glad we saved that $375. The weather was perfect for hiking and the park was easy to travel and see. For future reference make sure your vehicles are working properly and have a guide that does not give up on the trip especially when the weather was very tolerable!!

I booked the Canyonlands and Arches full day tour and it was cancelled with less than a 24 hour notice. At first, Navtech said it was because it was a last minute booking (I booked over a month in advance). I pointed that out and they said “oh well we’ve had a medical emergency”. It was impossible to find another booking somewhere else with only 12 hours notice. They ALSO cancelled my calm water cruise the next day. I understand things happen, but not TWICE. I spent $600+ and still haven’t had it returned. Book at your own risk or go with someone more reputable.

Exploring Arches via 4x4 is a MUST. If you don't feel comfortable handling technical terrain in a very expensive rental Jeep, you should really consider this tour with NavTech. They are one of the oldest tour companies in Moab with deep roots and knowledgeable guides. I recommend riding on the right hand side of the vehicle for the best views. Our guide John was very friendly and professional. He was a skilled driver who led us to the most desirable views of all of the park. Water and lemon electrolyte additive are complimentary to ensure you stay hydrated.

Unfortunately, we did not get to experience the 4x4 adventure. We received an email this week letting us know that we would need to purchase a 3rd ticket or cancel our reservation because we were a party of two and the state's new covid restrictions did not allow Naztec to combine groups in one vehicle.
We were disappointed at the decision to charge customers for an additional seat rather than deciding to serve your customers well. We were looking forward to the 4x4 adventure, but could not invest in a third ticket.

The viewing of Tower Arch was spectacular. Our guide Tyler was very knowledgeable and engaging and kept the narration up throughout.
I thought the amount of time riding in the Jeep versus the number of sites seen was not optimal. There seemed like too much emphasis on the off-road traveling and dune buggy piece. What I wanted most is to see more geological sites.

Our NAVTEC Expeditions Arches Nat’l Park ½ day 4x4 tour on May 10th was excellent. Experiencing Arches from the interior with the added insights of our guide provided a whole different perspective of the park. We viewed some arches many tourists don’t get a chance to see. At most of the places we stopped for pictures we were the only ones there. A much more peaceful and relaxing experience than dealing with crowds of people or searching for parking spots. Plus, being driven around in a 4x4 over rough terrain is fun! There were five adults in the truck. We did not did not feel squished with three people in the back seat. My husband sat in the center and said he had a good view.
Our guide, Rick, was fabulous. He is knowledgeable about the area and made the excursion a lot of fun. He purposely picked routes that got us to the viewing areas after other 4x4 groups had moved on. Rick also gave us great tips on things to do in the Moab area. His suggestion to do the Grandstaff trail on Hwy 128 turned out being one of our favorite hikes. There was greenery, beautiful flowers, and some shade along the trail. The trail turn-around point is an open cave like area with lots of shade. Just by chance, there was a rock climbing group repelling down the back wall when we arrived which was cool to watch. FYI- you have to cross a stream several times each way. We had waterproof shoes and the water level wasn’t very high that day so we didn’t have any problems.

Mike gave us a wonderful tour of Arches. He tailored the tour to what we wanted to see, adding some quick stops at the "front of Park" sights, as my partner and I wouldn't have had a chance to see them otherwise (we were only in Moab for this tour only).
The tour normally focuses on "back of Park" sights that you can only access via 4x4, places that the vast majority of visitors never see. The 4x4 drive was the most extreme one I've ever been on. VERY bumpy. Anyone with back problems should probably steer clear of this tour (or tell Navtec ahead of time so they can come up with a custom tour for you). For us, we had a great time and it was really fun! We got some amazing photos and felt like we saw the best of Arches in our short time there.
We took some great pictures and had a great time! Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I did this excursion with another couple we did not know amd Alden our guide. We had a fantastic day. It had rained some before we began our trip amd also during our trip the forst hour. The rain made the terrain and arches really pop with color!! Alden was great to allow us time to take lots of pics! He educated us about the Arches and how they were formed. He also told us about the history of the area of Moab, as well as other geological formations we encountered. This was not a drive for a novice, and he made the ride fun while still assuring us that we were always safe. Would def recommend this excursion with Navtec and our guide Alden!

My husband & I did the back country 4x4 tour with our good friends, a family of 4. At first, we balked a little at the price of $110/adult & $100/child, but boy, were we happy we did this! Doug & Charlotte were our guides in two vehicles. My best friend & I went with Doug, & the husbands & the boys went with Charlotte. Doug was super-knowledgeable & interesting--what a life he's had! And Charlotte was perfect with the little ones (9 & 10 going on 20 & 21). They were a bit jaded going into the tour, but by the end, they were incredibly engaged & were anxious to do more hikes in the other parks the following days. Yahooee! (Thanks, Charlotte!) We saw several formations up close; climbed into the Eye of the Whale arch & got up close to the Marching Men. The views they showed us were breathtaking, & they took us to the Windows for sunset. It was perfect. Bathroom breaks were perfectly spaced, & they even provided some yummy healthy snacks. We would highly recommend this tour & Navtec. Did I mention they picked us up & dropped us off at our hotel? The Best!

We had an awesome time visiting Arches! Our Navtec guide for this trip was Mike, he usually leads cayoneering trips, so for him, this was an easy day. It was obvious that he’s a thrill-seeker, but he really listened to what we told him and gave us an experience that was exactly what we all wanted. It was thrilling at our level but never too scary. He knew his stuff and made us feel safe. He gave me advice and techniques to help me navigate the slick rock trails, which let me climb paths that I would have been too intimidated to try before. We were lucky and got to travel with the same couple from our previous trip, it was great because we all wanted to get away from the crowds, see special things that we couldn’t get to on the main roads, and take great photos. The ride was definitely something that we couldn’t do on our own - the rock crawling was super fun! The experience was worth every penny and we would absolutely go with Navtec again!

Can we have a tour for 2 people and bring our dog....very friendly, well behaved 45 lb cattle dog?

The trip was definitely bumpy and hot and we were in and out of the 4x4 so I’m not sure a dog would fare well there.

We have 6, 4 adults and 2 children can we all go in same vehicle?
Written 21 April 2022
I am sorry I am just seeing this, as you may have already gone. The vehicle we were in only holds 4 people and the tour guide. I am not sure if they have larger vehicles, but judging where we went, I dont think they can go much bigger in size. You need a small SUV with 4 wheel drive to get where he took us.

Hi all - looks like there is quite a bit of confusion on various websites about the $30 vehicle park pass. Spoke with Angela at Nav Tec to try to clarify. Ideally, you should be able to purchase the $30 pass online, however, that's not working at the moment. So feel free to call Angela at 435-259-7983 to confirm that you can purchase the park pass the day of your tour at the entrance through Nav Tec. If anyone hears differently, please share!
Written 15 March 2022
Hi - which Nav Tec tour did you prefer: Arches or Canyonlands? thx!
Written 15 March 2022
Arches was great with our Navtech guide. We went into the backroads to see amazing sites. Canyonlands is very different and you can drive and stop for some great pix. Get the $20 for one year pass and you can go to all the parks for free. Or pay $80 for a lifetime pass.
