- erikamQ6170BK0 contributionsNot only a good tour but a great history tour.Great history provided by Andre, was not expecting so much history. The tour was a great experience to see a lot of the city, and food was good. Andre was a great guide. He walked faster than the group at times, and he prefaced he may walk faster than others. This tour is not for the weak, 4 hours of walking, you earn your calories!Written 11 October 2024
- leciac20170 contributionsBetter than expected!Awesome experience! Isabella was fabulous and taught us so much about the area. The food was great and so much of it! I highly recommend this tour!Written 8 October 2024

- PaulMCohen0 contributionsA tour not to be missed and repeated.Very informative, everything we ate and drank was fantastic even things we nominally don’t enjoy were excellent. The surprise visit to see an acrobatic circus rehearsal was wonderful 1/2 our group went to the afternoon performance after tour. Brian was very enthusiastic and entertaining.Written 30 September 2024

- 753randih0 contributionsGreat food tour of Little Italy.Tour guide Brian took us on a wonderful food tour of Little Italy. He kept us entertained as we ate lots of delcious food and learned about the history of the area. We didn't need dinner after the tour as we sampled so much food. Thank you Brian for a great tour.Written 29 September 2024
- RussellM40810 contributionsDo this at beginning of your stay in SFI wish we had done this sooner and not on the last day of our trip to SF. Andre was a good tour guide, we learned so much about the neighborhoods and establishments. Wish we had time to circle back to some of the venues we visited. I was especially entertained at the tea tasting bar. Kenny the owner was very friendly & funny. Walked with three other couples who came internationally. Good food & conversation. Recommend.Written 27 September 2024
- Ning26250 contributionsA must try inSFI definitely recommend this to anyone with family or friends visiting, especially if you’re not great at planning fun stuff to do. I’ve been to the north beach /Little Italy area a few times but never knew it could be this much fun! Our guide, Brian, was awesome—funny, thoughtful, and great at telling stories. He took us to some restaurants I’d been to before, but he pointed out the best dishes I’d never even noticed. Totally worth the money. Pro tip: Don’t eat too much before the tour—you’ll have a ton of food to try!Written 27 September 2024
- I474KWnicoler0 contributionsMust Do Food Tour in San Fran!WONDERFUL food tour group! We have been just my husband and myself. This last time we took the kids and my mother. Bryen was our tore guided (Definitely get him!!) He was so knowable able and made everyone feel comfortable and welcome and told you lots on cool information about the area and more. We have done Both tours to China town and North Beach! If I had to pick my favorite things from each tour it would be Tea with Uncial in China town, and having the best Cannoli in my life with a hot macchiato at North Shore (Little Italy).Written 26 September 2024
- ROSENDO A0 contributionsVery informative tourOur guide gave very clear and informative details about the locations we visited on the tour. I felt much more comfortable visiting other areas of Chinatown after this trip.Written 22 September 2024

- Q7953BSnataliaa0 contributionsEngaging tour from native San FranciscanIt was our anniversary so we decided to celebrate in SF. We did the North Beach walking tour with Brian as our tour guide. We learned a lot about the area from a local. Brian was very engaging and had quite a few jokes. The food was wonderful and whet our appetites enough to visit those locations again on future trips. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and we plan to do the Chinatown tour next time we visit SF.Written 21 September 2024

We had an amazing tour with Isabelle! So much food (half a pork sandwich, moon cake, onion roll, potstickers, fortune cookie, Peking duck & green beans, etc.) My favorite was tea tasting. Isabelle provided so much historical context and was an amazing guide. She lso made sure to accomodate members of our group that didn't eat pork or beef.

If you’re looking for a great introduction to the food, culture, and history of San Francisco’s Chinatown then look no further. This was 3.5 hours so we’ll spent and in terms of value for money a 11 out of 10. Brian was a super (!!) tour guide using facts and humor to craft an excellent narrative for the tour (Many thanks!). Make sure you go hungry because you’ll be well fed - we had rolls, dim sum, noodles, pot stickers, moon cake and Peking duck.
The piece de resistance to the tour was our last stop at Vital Tea-Leaf for a tasting of 6 different teas. The explanations about the teas’ benefits, and their tastes, were great, but 90+ year-old “Uncle (Mad Dog) G” provided the best sales pitch and comedy show ever! (Keep going Uncle!)
My only comment on the content of the tour is that the tour guide could add a few extra comments about how all the street art reflects the culture and history of Chinatown.
I look forward to trying some of their other “Local Tastes of the City Tours!”

Such a fun way to see San Francisco! We had a great time on our walking food tour with Isabella. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide - thoughtful, knowledgeable, funny. Isabella taught us so much about the history and people of Chinatown while feeding us yummy food along the way. Best pork buns ever, fun fortune cookie factory, oldest bakery in Chinatown were just a few of our stops. Would definitely recommend this outing for anyone wanting to dig a little deeper than just passing through this fascinating part of the city.

Well, that was fun! Love being a tourist in our own colorful, vibrant, endlessly fascinating City - particularly on a perfect day - what a treat! Our guide introduced us to a few gems that we have not found on our own numerous visits to Chinatown. Tea tasting was most educational with the very enthusiastic Mei, and the sneak-peak theater tour was a surprise. If you are familiar with basic Chinese food and culture, there are really no wow moments. But this is not intended to be a deep dive into Chinatown history. Still, there was enough info to spur additional research post tour. Recommended!

It starts with a reservation that we were lucky enough to get added to an already full group thanks to to an attentive owner named Tom!
Our tour guide was prompt, knowledgeable and informative and kept us moving through out the area. She brought us warm bread to start, then at the end, gave us a good luck charm and sweets, with so much more all throughout our tour. She was great!
The tastings she took us to provided a wide variety of Chinatown flavors. If only I could find them in Florida! Wow! The Tea tasting was especially nice and Tom sure put on a show of how to make proper Tea!
All in all, worth every dime you pay for this tour.

Brian is hands down the best tour guide ever (and I've been on dozens and dozens of tours in my life). Fun, engaging, knowledgeable and considerate. Walked and talked and ate our way through the history of Chinatown and it's obvious the store owners love and respect him greatly... they treat him like family and we became an extending of that family while visiting each place. Such a delightful experience.
A suggestion would be to indicate in the your description how much walking there will be... it was not as much as I was thinking for a 3 hour tour. It really only goes slowly around the compact area of Chinatown but not being familiar with the area, guests don't really know what to expect and may be hesitant to book a 3 hour walking tour thinking they will be walking for miles.
We loved everything about our tour with Brian and would highly recommend him and this tour to everyone!

We took the culinary walking tour of China town in San Francisco. Brian was our guide and he was informative, fun, and made the trip excellent. We enjoyed all of the history presented and some of the sidebars that only come with walking a city like San Francisco with a local like Brian. His unique flair added to the excitement to the tour. If you have an opportunity to book this tour, ask for Brian. You won’t regret it!

Our guide was SO knowledgeable and patient. We had two people with gluten intolerance on the tour and she was well prepared with food that they could enjoy. She was very charismatic and told a rich history of Chinatown that we never would’ve gotten otherwise. And the FOOD. Holy moly it was AMAZING, filling, and so so much. You will not be hungry afterwards. The food was so authentic and high quality. I would do his tour again. Our tour guide also deserves a raise, she rocked.

The tour was so wonderful! We stopped at five or six different restaurants and were able to try all the types of food that Chinatown had to offer. Our tour guide, Cynthia, was very knowledgeable and made the experience that much more enjoyable! She recommended several places to check out after the tour was over and not one of them disappointed. Will definitely recommend this to anyone looking to visit San Francisco and experience a bit of history and culture in Chinatown!

What a great way to see SF Chinatown and eat some of the best Chinese fare we’ve had. This was as much a food tour as a history tour, with Brian, our SF local, telling us all about the area, architecture, and cuisine and how it has all evolved and developed over time. And the tea tasting at the end was incomparable!!! Thanks Brian!

Hello - Are there any plant-based (vegan) options on the tour?
Written 4 August 2022
Yes, you can put in dietary restrictions when you book. Our guide was very cognizant of all restrictions.

I don't eat pork or shellfish. Are there options for me?
Written 8 April 2022
There are plenty options for you! They serve Peaking duck and vegetarian dim sums.
Written 24 July 2022
Are their options for foods, because I do not eat pork or beef so I was wondering if there are accommodations that still allow me to enjoy the tour?

I would love to do a 230PM tour in March (14-16) but not able to book that. Think that will update as we get closer? Thanks, Dan
