Overview
Cruise San Francisco Bay on an ‘Escape from the Rock’ boat tour that tells the stories of famous Alcatraz prison breaks. The regular Alcatraz Island ferry just shuttles between the waterfront and the island, but you cruise all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge as you cross the San Francisco Bay. Bring your own phone, iPad, or other device to listen to recorded tales from the history of Alcatraz.
Highlights
  • See San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge from the water
  • Secure advance tickets to a popular tour that might sell out
  • Use your own device for the audio tour—not a public headset and hand-held

Although the fog kept us from seeing a lot of the city and the Golden Gate bridge during our tour, it was a great tour and the history lesson was wonderful. The view of Alcatraz was excellent. I believe if you go later in the day the view will be better. You go right under

We waited until the weather was good to enjoy this 90 minute cruise. It certainly did not disappoint. The crew members were friendly and had a great sense of humour. The cruise itself was worth it with amazing views of the city, golden gate bridge and Alcatraz. A recording

Boat was packed with so many people with little consideration for others - we queued for 45 mins in order to get on the boat early and get a good seat up top. However by the time the hordes boarded - people just stood right in front of us blocking any views. The commentary was

Unfortunately we can't predict the number of people who may want to take a ferry especially on the weekend and when the weather is good. We do have a system by which you can listen to the audio tour on your own mobile device, but you may not have seen the instructional signs about that. In order for us to improve our service, it would be very helpful to know the date and time of your trip and where you boarded. If you could email info at blueandgoldfleet dot com, that would be most appreciated. Thank you for your feedback. Sincerely, Dennis
