Self-Guided Bike Rentals from San Francisco
US$32.00
Overview
Experience one of San Francisco’s most popular activities—biking across the Golden Gate Bridge—with this bike rental from the Marina District, conveniently located near Crissy Field and the route to the bridge. A bike, map, helmet and lock are provided with this rental, plus you’ll receive tips on the best ways to bike to the bridge and around the city. On the other side of the bridge, you can explore the waterfront town of Sausalito before returning to the city. Rental period is 24 hours.
What to Expect
Pick up your bike in the Marina District, a neighborhood situated less than 3 miles (4.8 km) away from the Golden Gate Bridge. Your 24-hour bike rental includes a helmet, u-lock, map, and some safety tips along with different sizes of well-maintained bikes that are personally adjusted to fit your height. Depending on your destination, you will be provided with bike routes to avoid San Francisco hills and traffic.

The mostly flat bike path to the Golden Gate Bridge is just three blocks away from the Lombard Street bike shop. Ride along the scenic waterfront with outstanding views of San Francisco Bay. Pass by the Great Meadow Park at Fort Mason, Crissy Field, the Palace of Fine Arts, and Fort Point en route to the bridge, which leads to Vista Point and the Marin Headlands.

Upon reaching the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge, cycle mostly downhill about 2 miles (3.2 km) for dining and shopping in the waterfront town of Sausalito. From here, you can catch a ferry back to Fisherman's Wharf or the Ferry Building with your bike (own expense). The entire trip takes about 3–4 hours. Alternatively, bike around the city and visit other San Francisco attractions such as Golden Gate Park and Union Square.

Bike Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito

Rental bikes worked good. When we returned pointed out the bike chain had come off twice on one bike due to a bent part. The lady who greeted us apologized and offered us free water or Gatorade for the inconvenience. She couldn’t have handled it...More

Great, easy was to see as much as possible of San Francisco

Smooth and easy to rent bikes through this company. We went over the Golden Gate Bridge, to Sausalito and Tiburon. Would recommend to friends.

Clean, friendly, as advertised, good service

Easy online reservation, easily accessible, a great location for over-the-bridge-and-ferry-return. They even have an optional bike deposit in Sausalito if you find that the return ferry is booked and you're tuckered out from getting there.

Thank Alec W
