Overview

With its stark red sands and steep buttes, Monument Valley exemplifies the American West. On this scenic, photographer-friendly tour, you’ll get an overview of the iconic Navajo site with stops at John Wayne film backdrops and the tribal park’s largest and most photogenic arch. Avoid the hassle of car hire with arranged transport in an all-terrain, which allows you to spend less time driving and navigating and more time sightseeing.

What to Expect

Your guide meets you in the lobby of your hotel, where you'll prepare for a scenic drive to Monument Valley in an all-terrain vehicle. You'll have access to parts of the park that are off-limits to smaller cars.

Located on a Navajo Reservation and considered sacred by Native American tribes, the multi-hued sandstone park can be tough to navigate alone. Your guide walks you through the history and background of each natural formation. With your choice of a sunrise or sunset tour, you’re guaranteed camera-ready views during the sun-kissed time of day known by photographers as the “Golden Hour.”

The itineraries are fully customizable, so you’ll have your pick of some incredible spots, including iconic rock formations like John Ford’s Point, which served as film backdrop in many John Wayne Westerns. One of the most photographed rocks is the Yei Bi Chei, which resembles a line of tribal dancers. You’ll also get an opportunity to take pictures of the Big Hogan, a sandstone cave chamber, and Ear of the Wind, a mesmerizing, crimson-colored arch.

Excellent Tour Guide

We were blessed to have Joseph as our tour guide. He related/visited very specific Navajo traditions and locations that you would not have see or heard about without a guide. Loved his humor too!! So glad we had Joseph, Go Steelers!!!

Fabulous Sunrise Tour

This is probably the only tour that departs before dawn. You can see the mesas and buttes loom slowly in the shadow as the sun rises. We went when it was rainy, so the view was not ideal. However, John, our knowledgeable guide, did everything...More

We took a sunrise tour and John was our guide. He took us to very good place to take pictures of sunrise. And also showed us some impressive spot with great view. Definitely worth every penny.

We took the tour in March, so it was still chilly. The vehicle we were put on was an enclosed SUV hybrid type like you see everywhere. We stayed on the paved roads unless we pulled off to park and walk over to a special site... More
