Historic Tennessee - Southern Plantations and Presidents

Overview

See two southern plantations from Nashville—the Hermitage, home of former president Andrew Jackson, and Belle Meade Mansion—without having to rent a car. On this tour, journey back in time with your guide and visit both historic locations in one day, with time for a traditional Southern lunch (own expense). The day ends with a relaxing wine tasting.

What to Expect

Your tour begins with pickup from your downtown Nashville hotel. Drive 30 minutes to the Hermitage, a plantation that was once home to former president Andrew Jackson. Visit the museum, explore the mansion, and wander through the grounds. See old farm buildings, slave sites, a tulip grove, church, and more.

Stop for a Southern buffet lunch on the Hermitage grounds (own expense) before heading to the Belle Meade Plantation, also known as the Queen of Tennessee Plantations. Once a thoroughbred horse farm and nursery in the 19th century, the mansion has an original stable, carriage house, dairy, slave cabins, and more to tour. When finished, stop for a wine tasting at the Belle Meade Plantation.

The tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

Wonderful history close to Nashville for visitors!

Loved visiting both Belle Meade and Andrew Jackson's Hermitage home plantation and mansion. Both had guides fill you in on history and details about the families. BEST guide was Brenna at Belle Meade. Learned a lot about Andrew Jackson, before and during his presidency, that...More

Well-run tour of interesting and beautiful locations.

This tour was easy to book, I was picked up just as I was told I would be. Driver Barry was friendly and knowledgeable, told lots of stories and gave background as we traveled first to Belle Meade and then to the Hermitage. Both sites...More

Historic sites good, Gray Line not-so-much

This Gray Line experience is essentially for the convenience of transportation, and little else. And the transportation is handled inefficiently. My wife went on this tour while I attended a conference in Nashville. The drivers for Gray Line said very little throughout the transportation time...More

Did you know wallpaper was all the rage back when?

This tour is enjoyable IF you are into Andrew Jackson and learning about Belle Meade. This was my husband's tour pick so I went along for the ride. They dress in period costumes at each location and have interesting stories along the way. There is...More

I think I saw some in the distance. Not a prominent part of the tour.

Check to see which hotels are included - there is a Ist. We were staying at a condo and were able to walk to a nearby hotel on their list for pickup and drop off.

Does the tour pick up at our hotel, Club Hotel Nashville Inn & Suites on Atrium Way? Also, from pick up at hotel until return, how much time should we allow?
