Select Date and Travellers
2 travellers
This 2.5-hour Charleston food walking tour features the area surrounding City Market in the historic downtown district. Learn about Charleston's history as you enjoy tastings of traditional favorites and contemporary innovations, all of which highlight the cuisine of locally owned restaurants. With a guide, you'll visit at least four eateries that provide samples of Lowcountry dishes.
  • Visit a number of locally owned and operated Charleston restaurants
  • Taste some of the city’s best food without having to do research
  • Your guide also tells you the history of the city as you walk
  • Skip lunch, and your food samples will fill you up
  • Restaurant stops are long enough to give your legs a chance to rest
What to Expect
Your tour starts in Downtown Charleston at a local restaurant. Meet your guide, and get ready to try some of the best local food the city has to offer. The meeting point is conveniently near downtown hotels and parking garages. From there, your guide will take you to a number of eateries to sample some of their best menu items. Get a taste of the South with dishes such as special sliders and pies, and wrap up your tour with a dessert. Your samples are large enough that by the end of this tour, you should be satisfied. Hear guide commentary about the city’s history along the way. This food tour ends near the original departure point. If you’re going to be in the area longer, you’ll go home with suggestions about where to eat for the rest of your trip.

We visited four restaurants on our tour. The food was great and enough for a meal. Gary, our guide, was very engaging and knowledgeable. Had a great time meeting new people as well.

The restaurants had great food. Mime was an amazing guide with a wealth of knowledge about the restaurants and the local culture. I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes community and culture with their food.

A few minutes walk between restaurants that you don’t really notice because there are brief stops along the way for historic insights - and Charleston is so beautiful I didn’t mind a bit of walking between substantial bites.
