Prince for employee horse of the month & Scott was great too!
We did the 4:00pm tour today. What a great tour. Scott our driver/guide was good value, combing formidable knowledge with a good sense of humor. Certainly a must-do tour when visiting Charleston. The carriage was very comfortable, with Prince, tirelessly taking us through some 30 odd blocks of beautiful Charleston. Booking was very easy, as was checking-in at the stables, with a lovely young woman @ the desk. It was a bit chilly, so we were supplied with some nice blankets. Thank you

It was a great tour and our guide was nice. We were sitting in the last seat in back and since I can't hear well I missed a lot of what she was saying , but husband filled me in. I will go again

      Old South Carriage Ride
I had a wonderful experience on the Old South Carriage Tour with Madison as our guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging, making the history of Charleston come alive with her storytelling. Her expertise and enthusiasm were matched by her exceptional horse, Zeus, who was well-behaved and added a special charm to the tour. I highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Charleston!

      Family Carriage Ride
We loved our trip around the city on the horse drawn carriage over Thanksgiving. Although it was a cold and windy day we were able to see so much and learn even more about the beautiful city of Charleston. Our tour guide was great and informative especially regarding the treatment of the horses and the buildings we were seeing. There were a total of 12 adult family members with 3 children 2 and under so we decided to book a carriage all to ourselves which ended up being perfect. Would highly recommend!

      Great time.
We took two carriage tours while in Charleston this past week with Old South Carriage Tours. The first was a historic tour with guide Teddy and Roger which we really enjoyed. The second tour was a holiday tour which was a 30 min “sleigh ride” with Waynedeer, Jingles and Little Jingles which included singing Christmas Carols, meeting Santa along with hot chocolate and cookies.

My group and I went on the haunted carriage ride with Mac as our horse. Our guide was a fantastic story teller! We were in the back and all of us were able to hear him perfectly. The ride was very comfortable and we appreciated when we went past motorcycles and other loud vehicles the guide waited until they passed to continue with the story. They also took precautions using plexiglass for COVID. I would 10/10 recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys hearing some history about the city in a relaxing, fun atmosphere.

The carriage ride was very comfortable, and the storytelling was fascinating and spooky. Our driver, Shannon, was outstanding. I highly recommend taking this tour, but if you have small children who are afraid of creepy stories, you might want to use caution. Our daughter got a little bit scared over a couple of the stories but we reassured her that they were "pretend", and that seemed to calm and comfort her. Even our driver, Shannon, tried to comfort her and showed extra care but still was able to give everyone else the experience that they were seeking in a haunted carriage ride.

Our guide was informative and funny, great personality. We could all hear her and she interacted with our kids and told the stories well. Our horse, Wayne, was awesome. He was not in a hurry so we felt like we got our monies worth by not being rushed. Also, we had family join us at the last minute and the company accommodated us with no problem.

We normally love historical tours. We took this tour on the night of arrival hopping to get a good introduction of the city and highlights of areas to visit, with a few ghost stories laced in. However, we mostly got random ghost siting stories. Because it’s only 40 minutes, and apparently we may have been assigned the random fifth route that doesn’t have a lot of points of interest, we were disappointed for the price we paid. We were also seated in the last row and had difficulty hearing the driver at times. We later took a walking history history tour during the day and a walking haunted history tour the next day and loved those.

Hi Kelly, we are sorry to hear your experience wasn't what you had hoped for. For our Haunted Carriage Tour, the content we cover is based around the Haunted History of Charleston, and the route for those tours are throughout the commercial side because after 5PM all Carriage Tours cannot enter the residential area. If you wish to discuss this further with us, please reach out to our General Manager Derek at 843-723-9712. Thank you.

The reason for only a 3 rating, in part, is that they DO NOT cancel due to inclimate weather. We headed out in a downpour and the haunted portion of the ride was missing. It was just some storytelling that could be a generic tale in any city. The pros, horses and carriage seemed to be well cared for and conveniently located near market and bars/restaurants. This review includes a vote for Isaac (our noble steed) who appeared to be a little cautious with the standing water in the street.

Charleston is a wonderful city to see by a horse drawn carriage. You can really appreciate the scenery and get a sense of the pace of an earlier time. This tour (which we did around 7:30 when it was dark) did give us a different sense of the city than the daytime carriage tour we took. Our tour guide was an affable enough fellow, but his stories were super long (most he couldn't finish in the one stop where the story starts, so he would typically end it along the way or at the next stop. In a couple of instances, the story involved a ghost. In a couple, it was just that someone died. None of the stories were really memorable. All were suitable for a PG audience. Probably the least satisfaction we received in three days in Charleston. We'd try another haunted tour the next time.

The guide was poorly prepared, unprofessional (talking down to drivers who were clearly guests to your city), and talked about thinking that Nancy Pelosi has a drinking problem which has nothing to do with the tour. The guide stated that their Covid capacity was 10 people. The three benches can seat 4 adults each so their max capacity is 12 people. The tour had 8 adults so they failed with social distancing. The only plexiglass guard was to protect the guide.

My family and I enjoyed our tour. You start your tour at the carriage house and it was neat to see all the horses in their stalls. The staff also does a great job of explaining how the horses are cared for and how often they work. Our tour guide, Big Mike, and our horse, Big Jim, did an excellent job of telling the “ghost” stories and showing us the historical sites. The tour company has placed plexiglass partitions between the driver and the passengers.

Disappointed in the ghost tour. A 45 min. tour lasted 30 min. Did not feel engaged at all with the tour guide. I would say he did not have very many "ghost stories" and his presentation of the stories did not make them believable. During these times with Covid-19 there were no barriers between each seat row and we had another couple right beside us. We did the daytime historic tour earlier the same day and it lasted 1 hour and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaged with the entire group. No barrier between seats but we did have the row to ourselves. Maybe bad luck in having this particular guide and not a good reflection on all the tour guides.

We do a carriage tour every time we are in Charleston; I love them. When I learned that the historic tours were sold out for the day, I was a bit disappointed, but the person I spoke to suggested the haunted evening tour which I didn't know existed. I was so excited! Best of both worlds! Unfortunately, nothing sounded particularly haunted, spooky or even dark. In fact, everything sounded the same... .like Charlie Brown's teacher mumbling. He didn't speak loud enough (and I was only on the second row); when he spoke, he generally faced forward which didn't allow for his voice to be heard. I was disappointed that I paid that much money to hear some great stories only to hear mumbling.

Thanks for joining us on our Haunted Carriage Tour. Sorry that your experience wasn't what you expected because of not hearing the tour guide. Wearing masks or face shields are required based on the city ordinance for our tour guides and it has posed a bit of a challenge depending on the day. Im sorry you had a hard time hearing and we hope we can project our voices better through a mask in the future!
