Overview
Combine cool city sights from the water with a boatload of historical facts during this Charleston history cruise—a great way for first-time visitors to orient themselves. An easy-to-find meeting place takes the stress out of navigating a new area, leaving you to sit back and enjoy your guided tour on the Charleston Harbor.
What to Expect
Meet for your Charleston Harbor cruise at Charleston Maritime Center on Wharfside Street in the city. Turn in your voucher at check-in, and board your sightseeing boat.

When you board, find a spot you’d like best for this guided tour. If you’d like you can purchase drinks on board the boat (own expense) to sip on while you sail.

Your guide starts right away telling you the history of the city as you pass by antebellum houses and pass under bridges. Follow the Cooper River all the way to the Fort Sumter National Monument.

Your guide tells you stories about the Civil War and WWII, and you might even catch sight of wildlife as you cruise, including dolphins and pelicans. See Fort Moultrie and Fort Johnson, along with St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.

Your Charleston tour ends back at the place where it began on Wharfside Street.

Good addition to the history you receive on city tours.

Comfortable, easy tour to see forts and hear about the harbor battles. You also get a good feel for the different townships and neighborhoods around the harbor.

Fun and Informative Tour of the Harbor

The family had a fun tour of the harbor on a hot August day. We sat downstairs in the A/C and listened to the guide. The kids had a little room to run around and the adults got a little relaxation after walking around CHS...More

A good way to see Charleston

We enjoyed our tour. We would encourage you to go early in the day as it does get hot. You get great views of the harbor forts, Patriots Point, and the bridge. Our captain and guide was Tripp. He was amazing and very informative.

The top section are open but there is a closed in section downstairs that is air conditioned and has lots of extra room. There's even a snack bar on the top deck!
